Reseda, CA
Rocky Romero vs Tomasso Ciampa - 5/10
Good opener. Looking at this match on paper, you may ask yourself 'what could Rocky even do to Ciampa?' and you're not that wrong. Rocky brought in a good match, but I just couldn't see Rocky winning. Lots of hard hitting in this match.
ACH vs Cedric Alexander - 7.5/10
Great match. Lots and lots of wrestling, reversals, chops, jumps, slaps, flips, Dragon Ball Z moves, body surfing, and potentially the two guys to become the face of the indie scene in the coming years. This match actually ran a quite a long time.
Best Friends vs The Unbreakable F'n Shabangs! (Michael Elgin and Johnny Gargano) - 8.5/10
Gargano replacing Cage due to injury. Fans are giving a lot of hate to Elgin, i'm guessing is due to the lack of mullet. It appereas there may be still some heartfelt feelings between Gargano and Taylor. This match got really really good as time progressed. Match got several 'This is Awesome' chants at some points of the match that were actually quite awesome. Bunch of good near falls + a pretty cool ending
Trevor Lee vs Kevin Steen - 6.5/10
Steen gets a huuuge streamer shower and he rolls up in them "Roll Steen Roll" chant. "OLE" chants for Steen followed by "Kill Steen Kill" after he started murdering Lee. This is a pretty good rub for Trevor Lee to have his singles debut against Steen in his last match. Steen did his Apron Powerbomb on each of the sides of the ring, and I think Lee may have died a little, but thus, Steen's new nickname was born "Mr. Powerbomb". Pretty good showing for Lee, even if he got his ass kicked most of the match, including kicking out of Steen's offense and a predictable upset.
Aftermath Steen Promo - Awesome! Steen is going to Mexico to help Generico with the orpahns, because they're out of control.
Chant of the night: "That was three! That was three!"
Frankie Kazarian vs Brian Kendrick - 6.5/10
Kaz's return to PWG! Kendrick's shorter return to PWG! First chant of the match: "FUCK TNA! FUCK TNA". Fans got kinda quiet during this match, understandable being the middle of the show and coming off from Steen's match. Good showing for both guys, Kendrick was a lot more intense than i remember him, also playing heel, he kicked out of Kaz's finishers several times, pushed the ref and went for a slice bread from the top rope. Kaz eventually takes the win with a sick looking Flux Capacitor. I really wouldn't mind some Londrick vs Bad Influence in the future.
PWG World Championship No 1 Contendership Match
Adam Cole vs Roderick Strong - 7/10
Last time I saw these guys fight, Roddy connected a roddy chop on Cole's dick, I was worried it would happen again, because that can't be good for Cole's future family plans. Good hard hitting match, was somewhat shorter than the previous matches, but good overall. I did not see that finish coming, not for a million miles. Interesting development.
PWG World Title Match
Kyle O'Reilly (c) vs Chris Hero - 8/10
This is my first experience of fat Hero, he looks ready for the Wyatt Family. There was a lonely fan trying to start a 'This is Wrestling' chant in the first minute, surely no one followed. Fat or not, he's still Hero and an amazing wrestler, as you can expect, this was the most technical match of the night; a catch-wrestling clinic these guys put on. Hero completely decimated Kyle's knee, including some innovating ways to hurt you and a move that almost broke O'Reilly's neck! They told a good story of Hero destroying Kyle, and the champion's comeback to defend his title.
Aftermath: Roderick Strong comes out and pretty much makes sure O'Reilly knows he's coming for the title. He just became my dark horse for BOLA'14.
PWG World Tag Team Title Guerrilla Warfare Match
The World's Cutest Tag Team vs The Young Bucks (c) -
Oh My Fucking GOD!!! CHAOS!!! A crazy-all-over-the-place-hardcore brawl!! A beautiful way to finally dethrone the Bucks. Some of the most innovative hardcore things you can see without becoming a deathmatch. Candice finished the match with a full blown 1.0 Muta Scale crimson mask!! Fuck it, I'm giving it the full 10! Go watch this now!
Aftermath: Steen's real goodbye ceremony. Quite touching, and awesome if you saw WM24.
Roddy Backstage Promo - Good Roddy promo, if you know what that means.
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Some highs and lows for the show, but the lows where not terrible, just not as good as the rest of the show. PWG caps off their anniversary show with a truly MOTYC and poetic way to end a really big tag team reign. I say go watch this show, go buy it, especially if you're a fan of the Bucks or Steen.
