PWG Mystery Vortex Review:
Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs Dojo Bros (Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong): ***1/4 Great opener but it seems kind of odd to me they'd place this as the opener because this is the best team in PWG history vs a tag team they're trying to make a big deal out of so I found that a little odd but otherwise this was a perfect opener
Sami Callihan vs Drake Younger: ***1/4 This would be the beginning of the Best Of 3 Series they would have where the winner got a PWG World Title shot at All Star Weekend IX Night 2. This was basically a stiff as hell all out action brawl for 15 minutes. Basically if you like selling you'll hate this but if you don't mind a lot of no selling you'll love this
Adam Cole Promo: He basically tells the fans Kevin Steen's afraid of him and Steen says he's not afraid of him, he's going to wire Cole's jaw shut and there match tonight will be Guerrilla Warfare
PWG World Tag Team Title Match Super Smash Bros (Player Uno and Stupefied) vs RockNES Monsters ( Johnny Goodtime and Johnny Yuma): ***1/4 This was a fun tag title match and had some great action in it (the near fall where Goodtime cut his beard off and blew it in Stupefied's face and Yuma rolled him up was awesome)
Joey Ryan vs Scorpio Sky: *** This was really fast paced and very fun but given this was Joey's last in PWG (or so we thought at the time) this felt very underwhelming and the fact it was only 11 minutes didn't help that feeling either
Joey Ryan Promo: Joey thanks the fans, says he's always felt his role in PWG is whatever the company needed at the time, goes over his history in PWG, asks if any female fans will give him a blowjob after the show and then says "And don't worry PWG when you turn 16 Joey Ryan will be back" (yea try when you turn TEN)
TJ Perkins vs B-Boy vs Brian Cage vs Willie Mack: ***1/4 Fast paced multi man action like you'd expect from PWG
Rich Swann vs El Generico: ***1/2 Great match I've always been a big fan of Generico's matches with guys who are faster than him and the finish of (I believe the move is called but I'm not sure) a Double Pumphandle Into A Sitout Suplex Powerbomb was 1 of the sickest finishing moves I've ever seen
Dojo Bros vs Super Smash Bros: ***1/2 Now I get why Dojo Bros vs Young Bucks and SSB vs RockNES Monsters was so early on the card. This was a great match that made Strong and Edwards look like they in 1 night went from a great team to 1 of the top teams in PWG and the rightful no. 1 contenders for the PWG Tag Titles
Guerrilla Warfare for the PWG World Title Kevin Steen vs Adam Cole: ***3/4 This was very brutal and made Cole look great that he went into a Guerrilla Warfare match with Kevin Steen and he not only took Steen's best stuff but came back and beat him clean with the Florida Key's. Also this match is notable for 1 of the sickest (and probably most painful) hardcore spots I've ever seen you'll know the one when you see it.
Overall Rating: 8/10 This was a great show not a MOTYC or anything but this was extremely consistent with not a single match below *** I give this a solid recommendation

Something that i've always loved about the Mystery Vortex is that prior to the show, fans don't know the card. It must be a cool experience to be there live and not know the matches you're getting.

It'd actually be the perfect show for a surprise debut or surprise return, especially for a big name.

Dojo Bros don't count. Roddy and Eddie had both been working for PWG forever. The Scorpio Sky thing is more like what I'd talking about.cero2k wrote:technically it was the debut of Dojo Bros and the return of Scorpio SkyBig Red Machine wrote:It'd actually be the perfect show for a surprise debut or surprise return, especially for a big name.
