Thelone reviews OVW TV Episode 1133

Post by Thelone » May 2nd, '21, 19:27

We have a recap of what happened at Retribution.

Al Snow is in the ring holding the heavyweight belt to address the situation. He's explaining that they have a backup referee in case the first gets injured in the middle of the match and to cut it short, they don't have a clear winner so they'll have a rematch next week and this time, we will have a definitive winner/champion.

The Tate Twins (Brendon and Brent) vs. AJ Daniels & Tony Evans - **
OVW sure loves the twins. "They took the week off (after losing the tag belts)", no they didn't pbp guy. I guess we have yet another team with two guys not really on the same page. Anyway, the twins won relatively quickly and once again, the announcers are talking about how they're changing, but they didn't do twin magic or anything here.

Tony Gunn vs. Jake Omen - ***
A pretty good hard-hitting match for the few minutes they've got. Finish saw Gunn being distracted by Kal Herro cleaning up the stands and rolled up by Omen for the win.

Backstage, Godderz asks Haley J how her auditions went just to be a dick, then he runs into AJZ. Basically, he says that he's the one Jessie didn't beat yet, but his days are numbered as champion because he's coming for him.

Oh, OVW has a streaming service apparently, which seems a bit silly.

"The Good Word" with Reverend Ronnie Roberts - Very good
This week, it's Jessie Godderz. He's throwing flowers at himself about how good and successful he is, but Reverend tells him also about AJZ and Godderz dismisses him as a nobody who just came here in OVW. Roberts thinks Jessie is scared, which sends him into rant mode, then he says he will made an example of him and challenges AJZ for a match next week, then he leaves and takes back all the cash he put in the Reverend's plate like an asshole, EXCELLENT. Where was this Godderz in TNA?

Hy-Zaya & JC Addams (w/ Josh Ashcraft) vs. Espiritu Maya & Star Rider - *1/2
Apparently, it was supposed to be KTD instead of Zaya, but Ashcraft more or less forced him to give up his spot. So of course, we have another "two partners can't stand each other" here and Zaya doesn't give a shit about Addams (I guess that makes sense here though). At one point, Zaya is trying to unmask Rider, but Addams stops him. Thirty seconds later, both lucha guys pinned Addams for the win.

Post-match, Zaya starts beating up Addams and we cut to the break.

Charlie Kruel vs. Haley J - Squash
Non-title. Haley is still mad about the whole audition stuff and Kruel... is a bootleg of the old Solo Darling I think? This was mostly Haley screaming and beating the hell out of Kruel who barely got any offense in, but she fed Haley some Poptarts.

Steve Michaels & Cash Flo (w/ Josh Ashcraft) vs. Gustavo & Omar Amir - **
They had a match on fast-forward and Amir hit his finisher on Michaels for the win. It was apparently the first pinfall loss for Michaels.

Post-match, Amir and Flo keep going at it and we're off!!!

That was a fine follow-up from the special to set up a bunch of stuff for this new cycle.
