BRM Reviews FIP New Year's Classic

Post by Big Red Machine » Nov 29th, '12, 22:47

FIP New Year’s Classic (1/7/2005)- Lakeland, FL

BRIAN GAMBLE vs. MIKE SHANE (w/Ron Niemi)- squash

SCOOT ANDREWS & RYZE vs. THE HEARTBREAK EXPRESS- 2/10
A formulaic tag team match in which they utterly failed to make me care about anything they did.

SETH DELAY vs. VORDELL WALKER- 3.5/10
The low rating is because this match was extremely short, but it did leave me wanting to see more of both guys.

PUMA vs. AZRIEAL (w/CM Punk)- 6.25/10
Decent pre-match promo by Punk. We also got a post-match promo by Punk which led into…

ANTONIO BANKS vs. CM PUNK (w/Azrieal)- 4/10
They took forever to actually start wrestling. Once they stopped stalling it was okay, but the finish looked extremely weak.

SAMOA JOE vs. RODERICK STRONG- 7/10
This was billed as a “Strong Style Challenge” and it most certainly lived up to that name.

JERELLE CLARK & SAL RINAURO vs. “FAST” EDDIE VEGAS & JIMMY RAVE (w/Dave Prazak)-6.5/10

FIP HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Homicide(c) vs. James Gibson- 7.75/10

AFTERMATH- great build to tomorrow night.

Overall, a good show from FIP.

When FIP was around, they ran shows at local places around my area which was always cool to me. Wish I knew about it when it was happening. Also another tidbit that nobody cares about, Roderick Strong went to Riverview High School, which is the high school I'm actually zoned for (but I go to a different school). It's five minutes from my house and I have lots of friends who go there lol.

Are they out of business now? I wasn't sure.

Last show I remember them running was down here. It was a tournament, I think it was called the Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup but I'm probably wrong lol. That was a year ago or so, maybe two years ago.
