BRM Reviews the 2/12/2021 ROH

THE FOUNDATION, FRED YEHI, & WHEELER YUTA IN THE LOCKER ROOM- good
Lethal is giving a speech to the Foundation, their two invited gets, and via, the camera, to the locker room at large. He says the usual stuff about ROH being founded on pure wrestling. He says he has invited Yehi and YUTA here because they share this belief with the Foundation. Lethal splits them up into teams for tonight’s main event. Himself, Rhett Titus, and Wheeler YUTA vs. Gresham, Tracy Williams, & Fred Yehi. Lethal insists that “it’s not about who is teaming with who,” but he calls Tracy back at the end to suggest that the two of them start the match tonight, so he clearly put himself and Tracy on opposite sides for a reason. That reason is probably that he wants to get his win back from the Pure Title tournament, which Tracy reminded him of after Lethal made said challenge.

QUINN MCKAY RUNS DOWN THE CARD-
Quinn gave a little more color to the main event, telling us that the Foundation got I booked after seeing last week’s main event end in a no-contest due to all of the rule-breaking and being “disgusted.” This is the sort of thing that probably would have worked better coming from the wrestlers, but having it come from someone playing the “host” role like Quinn is here certainly works a lot better than having it come from the announcers in the middle of the match like we get in WWE and AEW.

TONY DEPPEN VIDEO PACKAGE/PROMO- decent
He wants to earn a roster spot

LEON ST. GIOVANNI VIDEO PACKAGE/PROMO- meh
He wants to get his win back from the Final Battle opener, and also to prove himself.

TONY DEPPEN vs. LEON ST. GIOVANNI- 6.25/10
LSG won clean.

QUINN MCKAY HELPS THE BRISCOES MAKE NICE AGAIN AND THEY AGREE TO GO AFTER THE TAG TITLES- bad
The Briscoes were far too “cartoon redneck” here.

SHANE TAYLOR VS. RUSH VIDEO PACKAGE- good
The match is in two weeks.

WHEELER YUTA & THE FOUNDATION (Jay Lethal & Rhett Titus) vs. FRED YEHI & THE FOUNDATION (Jonathan Gresham & Tracy Williams)- 6.75/10
This was solid wrestling but it never really got into high gear. The finish saw Gresham take a bullet for Yehi, only for Yehi to then get hit with Rhett Titus’ finisher and pinned, which didn’t make Yehi look good at all. This was exacerbated by the fact that Rhett’s finisher is a freakin’ drop kick.


This was a meh episode of ROH. The next two have title defenses, so that’s something to look forward to.
