BRM Reviews ROH World's Greatest

Post by Big Red Machine » Jul 20th, '11, 15:24

ROH World’s Greatest (2/25/2011)- Dayton, OH

MARK BRISCOE vs. KYLE O’REILLY- 6/10 Solid opener

THE BRAVADO BROTHERS vs. GRIZZLY REDWOOD & STEVE CORINO- 5/10
Great pre-match promo by Corino.

MARK BRISCOE vs. MIKE BENNETT (w/Brutal Bob Evans)- 5.5/10

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Colt Cabana vs. Mike Mondo vs. Rhett Titus vs. Andy “Right Leg” Ridge- 5.75/10 with some good comedy mixed in.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. MICHAEL ELGIN (w/Truth Martini)- 6.5/10, but good aftermath.

EL GENERICO vs. HOMICIDE- 6.5/10

KENNY KING vs. EDDIE EDWARDS- 7.75/10

DAVEY RICHARDS & WRESTLING’S GREATEST TAG TEAM (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) vs. RODERICK STRONG & THE KINGS OF WRESTLING (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) (w/Shane Hagadorn, Sara Del Rey, & Truth Martini)- 8.5/10. I have a few gripes with this match. The first of which was that, in the beginning, Roddy did not look like a champion at all. He got outwrestled at every turn. My second gripe was that, for 10 minutes at the end, KOW and WGTT randomly disappeared, which was kind of weird. I did like the finish, though, with the way that it built to Davey vs. Roddy… and the way that rug was pulled out from under our feet. Gripes aside, it was still an awesome match.

Overall, this was a good show from ROH, but definitely not one of the best. The undercard was extremely overwhelming, but the two matches at the top were good. I’d say skip it, unless you are a completist.

What? They are both pronounced according to the basic rules of English pronunciation.
