ROH Revolution: Canada (5/7/2011)- Toronto, ON

KYLE O’REILLY vs. CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey)- 7/10. Great opener, including one of the most awesome chokeslams I have seen in years.

STEVE CORINO vs. MIKE BENNETT (w/”Brutal” Bob Evans)- 5.5/10 I can’t help but wonder how this match would have gone over in front of a less smarky crowd. Even Corino himself called the crowd out on it (in an entirely kayfabe way, which was great). They shouldn’t be encouraging him to cheat. The whole angle is that the fans want to see Corino succeed in his rehab from being evil, as the lockerroom and management are unsure if he is trustworthy or not. After all, Corino is devious enough that this could all be part of some evil plot. This angle would be even better in front of a CHIKARA crowd. Damn smarks ruining a good angle. Another thing I didn’t like was the whole thing with the ringbell. Ringing the ringbell near someone’s balls won’t hurt them! There is no contact to the balls. It is just soundwaves!

ANDY RIDGE PROMO- good.

DOUBLE DANGER SCRAMBLE MATCH: Adam Cole vs. Andy “Right Leg” Ridge vs. Rhett Titus vs. Grizzly Redwood vs. Tomossa Ciampa (w/the Embassy) vs. Michael Elgin (w/Truth Martini)- 8/10. A great debut for this concept (6 man free for all with Lucha Tag Rules, the first person to get two pinfalls wins). I’d like to see it back.

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. KENNY KING- 7.75/10 Awesome match.

BRAVADO BROTHERS SEGMENT- this got GREAT heat. We got a chant of “F*CK YOUR GRANDMA!” The Bravados are awesome.

DELIRIOUS vs. COLT CABANA- No Rating. Nice tribute to Larry Sweeney.

EL GENERICO vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (w/Truth Martini)- 7/10. Great aftermath with Corino!

EDDIE EDWARDS PROMO- good

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin)(c) vs. The Briscoe Brothers- 7/10.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Eddie Edwards(c) vs. Chris Hero (w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey)- a PERFECT 10/10! An outstanding, hard-hitting 40-minute long marathon of awesome!

An absolutely AWESOME show from ROH. Certainly awesome enough to overlook the stupid name. A sleeper candidate for Best Show of the Year. A whole bunch of main-event quality matches, including an awesome debut for a new multi-man gimmick match, a nice tribute to a fallen friend, and capped off by a PERFECT main event.
