Following up on AJ Styles' WWE Championship win from last Tuesday, SmackDown ratings were essentially even for this week's Survivor Series go-home show -- averaging 2.607 million viewers.

The show finished sixth for the night on cable in terms of total viewers and fifth in the 18-49 demo with a 0.82 rating. Stronger than usual sports competition came from the opening night of the NCAA basketball season with consecutive games doing 2.97 and 2.67 million viewers. The announcement of the college football playoff rankings, a half-hour special on ESPN, did 3.785 million viewers, tops on all of cable.

For the third time in the last five weeks, SmackDown was down year-over-year, which corresponds with Raw being up in all but one of those weeks.

SmackDown retained 86.3 percent of the Raw audience from the night before, about average during football season. In addition to Raw's invasion in the closing segment, the episode also featured United States and Women's title matches that were promoted ahead of time. While Ric Flair returned to WWE television on the show, that wasn't promoted in advance.

The show-closing angle with Raw's retaliation to SmackDown's invasion from three weeks ago was not advertised but was heavily hinted at.
