March 30, 2021

Last night’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw drew a 1.20 rating, the lowest rating since Dec. 14, 2021, and down form last week’s rating of 1.28. The March average ended at 1.30 and the ten week rolling average coming into this week was 1.29.

The show drew 1.733 million viewers in the first hour, the lowest first hour rating since Dec. 14. It held the audience really well, though, with only a 60,000 dropoff between the first and third hour. That’s the smallest first-to-third hour dropoff since Sept. 14, 2021

WWE went up against the NCAA Basketball Tournament on CBS, which drew around 6 million viewers. NBC’s The Voice and ABC’s “American Idol” also drew 5 million-plus viewers on Network TV.

Cable rankings aren’t available yet to see where Raw finished among all cable shows in the key 18-49 demographic, but Raw drew 0.55 rating in that demo, up from last week’s 0.53 but below the prior five week average.

In the male 18-49 demo, Raw drew a 0.73, up from last week’s 0.66. In the male 18-34 demo, Raw drew a 0.38, up from last week’s 0.27, but otherwise the lowest of the prior five weeks.

This is why you don't put stuff like board games, choo-choo noises and give people a feud based around one of the authority figures in the company repeatedly calling one of their talents "dumb".

it goes faaar beyond that. so so far, wwe has always done dumb stuff like board games and annoying OP authorities. This is years of bad booking, overdone stories, unnecessary drama, lack of consistency, lack of direction, treatment of the talent, not knowing how to book babyfaces, overly produced show, corporate mentality, corporate speak, unnatural way of being 'humans' for everyone, funding Trump's campaigns, dealing with the Saudi prince, constant COVD outbreaks, employing known Qanon members, predators, and pedophiles, undervaluing your titles, 3-week pushes, straight up losing fan's hopes after taking 'no miss' wrestlers like Ricochet or Riddle and making them geeks. After all that, choo-choo noises seem like the least of their problems, I'd gladly take choo-choo noises if they fixed any of the listed things.

Where's the motivation? They don't need to draw for PPV's anymore, because they're all part of a subscription. Therefore they don't need to create stars with which to draw PPVs, there isn't particularly much need in terms of ratings anymore. There's no motivation at all to do anything. They've made billions of dollars in the last couple of big deals they've made, so where's the motivation to do well?

there's none unfortunately for people who still watch it, they're just 'content creators' now. Hell, they don't even need to worry about network numbers because they moved to peecock and the numbers left are 'international', hence not priority.

The incentive is that their profits are now contingent on good viewership relative to other shows. The issue is that it only really matters during negotiation periods, so they can slack off for the first four years of a five-year deal.

Can’t argue with any of that.

Peacock isn’t really international though. It’s still WWE Network for UK and many other parts!

that's what I'm saying, the only numbers left in the network are international ones and those don't matter. i don't even know if peacock numbers can be accurately counted.

They’ll get streaming numbers and stuff for sure.

I’m just predicting they somehow go wrong for Wrestlemania. It’s clear they weren’t ready for it properly with the time it’s taking to migrate stuff over.

I’ve just stopped caring about WWE, it’s an awful product.
For all it’s flaws, at least AEW does a few things in a show worth watching and you don’t always come away just feeling outright insulted.
