Your First Favourite Wrestler
Your First Favourite Wrestler
Hey everybody!
I would like to know your first favourite wrestler(s), not the guy(s) you think is best now or has been the best over the last 20 years, or even your favourite growing up...
I want to know who was the first character(s) that caught your imagination.
Mine was in fact a tag team. The New Age Outlaws. From their very formation, from Billy Gunn breaking away from The Honky Tonk Man they took my imagination and to this day very few WWE created tag teams have matched their chemistry. Their promos were entertaining, they worked hard, it felt like they were customer built for a role in DX. I just loved them and it's a shame their ending was a damp squib and wasn't turned into a proper fued.
But there's mine... what's yours?

It's a win win for both guys.
A manoeuvre that looks ferocious but barely hurts the other guy.

Re: Your First Favourite Wrestler
i started up with Lucha, my first favorites where tinieblas and octagon. tinieblas was imposing and always a hero and octagon i always saw him as an awesome martial artist...oh how things have changed ever since
Re: Your First Favourite Wrestler
the Macho Man Randy Savage bc I was sooo friggin' tired of ppl loving Hogan and everything he did. The first wrestling segment I ever saw was the when Savage brought in Zeus, whom I knew from movies, so I was a huge fan immediately. Plus, Savage supposedly spent part of his high school days and the beginnings of his career here in Lexington, so I felt a slight kinship.

My first favorite wrestler was Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake.
His theme music really caught my attention as a young'in. Not to mention having the COOLEST ring gear, and EVERY match was a Hair Match!

didn't expect this one from you, Bob. I was thinking King Kong Bundy for you, sir....Bob-O wrote:My first favorite wrestler was Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake.

Haha! Good call! But I only really started appreciating The Great Bundy a few years ago.badnewzxl wrote:didn't expect this one from you, Bob. I was thinking King Kong Bundy for you, sir....Bob-O wrote:My first favorite wrestler was Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake.

Oddly enough though, thinking of heels, I also really liked Bret Hart when I was little. Like, Heel/Hart Foundation/Jimmy Hart-Managed Bret Hart. I singled him out of the tag team, and defended him. When people would tell me wrestling was fake, I'd tell them "...maybe, but not The Hitman. I've seen him really hit the good guys..."

Chris Jericho. I had a giant crush on him when I was young so that was my primary reason, but he was also a bit of a mix between a more traditional style and a more high flying style at the time, so he was fun to watch. He always had the most interesting facial expressions and promos too. My favourite Chris Jericho moment is when he called Steph something akin to a "dirty, disgusting, filthy, skanky, bottom-feeding, trash bag hoe."

Re: Your First Favourite Wrestler
Jeff was always my favourite Hardy, but he wasn't my first favourite, I'm ashamed to say. Not by a long shot. I actually only started to really appreciate him when he came back to the WWE, I think it was in 2006. I went back and watched some old stuff and did some reading, and the rest, as they say, is history.Big Red Machine wrote:Not Jeff Hardy?Serujuunin wrote:Chris Jericho.
