BOTB: Blood Match

Post by cero2k » Feb 3rd, '11, 18:39

It wasn't always about the little kids and PG, there used to be blood, and lot's of it!!

What is in your humble memory, the best "bloody" (for UK, not that kind of bloody) match you've seen.

Consider that LOTS of blood is not necessarily a good match

I haven't seen that many blood matches but I would have to say, in my opinion, the first ever Hell in a Cell match between Taker and Michaels. It had the perfect combination of spots, blood and story advancement.

Too many deathmatches come to mind. But I'm also thinking of Eddie vs. JBL in that one match where Eddie was GUSHING.

It def hasn't been that long since a promotion put on a VERY bloody match; ROH had one at Final Battle

there are TOO MANY matches to think of; I'm gonna have to consult the video tape....

WWE Championship, Texas Bull Rope Match, JBL vs. Eddie Guerrero , Judgment Day 2005
WWE Championship, Hell In A Cell, The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, No Mercy 2002

I may have to look into this a little more, but those are the most bloodiest matches I can think of at this time.

Tajiri v. Steve Corino (I think it was at Heat Wave 2000); Corino bled all over the place....

Hiroshi Hase vs. The Great Muta. This match gave us how we RATE bloodiness!

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels from IYH: Bad Blood

Edge vs. Mick Foley from WM XXII

Probably ANY deathmatch between Mickie Knuckles and LuFisto

Briscoes vs. KoW from Death Before Dishonor VIII.

I haven't seen it yet, but I have heard amazing things about Jay Briscoe vs. Samoa Joe from At Our Best.

Yes. The match itself wasn't a classic, but Jay's bloodloss was.

Indeed; I have it on my best of Samoa Joe dvd. Jay bleeds A LOT! Supposedly, his recent match against Roddy was just as bloody....

I am definitely getting the Charlotte show as soon as it comes out:
Jay vs. Roddy
Hero vs. Davey
Daniels vs. Claudio
Generico vs. Homicide vs. Kenny King vs. Mark Briscoe

But getting back on topic, what about Punk vs. Rave from Manhattan Mayhem? I know that only Punk bled, but he bled A LOT.

I don't think he bled nearly as much as Jay bled.

I have to go with Cactus Jack vs. Terry Funk in the finals of the King Of The Deathmatch tournament. Not only did they bleed buckets, Funk suffered second degree burns from the exploding turnbuckles.

Ahh, the good old days:)

I just saw Corino vs Homicide from Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies, and it definitely deserves a mention.

Easy... CACTUS JACK & KEVIN SULLIVAN vs. THE NASTY BOYZ at Slamboree 94. I seriously thought after the blood that Saggs poured after that guitar shot, he would die. I was horrified!
