EVOLVE 102

Additional notes by Bryan Rose

Here are tonight's EVOLVE 102 results from New Orleans.

- DJZ defeated Austin Theory
DJZ pinned Theory after a roll into a jumping DDT. Post match, Theory told the crowd that EVOLVE is his stepping stone to WWE and also challenged Keith Lee for an FIP championship vs. WWN championship match

- Will Ospreay defeated AR Fox
Absolutely incredible athletic match here between two of the best. Ospreay was all KT taped up and had cup therapy circles on his upper back, Oscutter for the impressive victory

- The End (Parrow and Odinson w/ Drennan) defeated The Workhorsemen (James Drake and Anthony Henry), Dominic Garrini & Tracy Williams and EVOLVE tag team champions Chris Dickinson & Jaka (w/ Stokely Hathaway)
A wild match here where the only way the tag titles would change hands is if the champions took the fall. Catch Point imploded when Williams wouldn't allow Garrini to lay down for the champions after Hathaway directed him to. The End defeated The Workhorsemen with the Hell on Earth to finish off this one.

- WWN Champion Keith Lee defeated Darby Allin in a non-title match
Lee absolutely demolished Allin, but he would not give up or stay down. Huge powerbomb and the Ground Zero finally scored the pin. Post match, Lee accepted the challenge of Theory for tomorrow. Darby was then attacked by Jarek 120 to send a message.

- Daisuke Sekimoto & Munenori Sawa defeated Ringkampf (WALTER & Timothy Thatcher)
Physical match with everyone showing their strength and fighting spirit. The big men WALTER and Sekimoto traded everything they have in the center of the ring and rope running, Sawa used his incredible hand and foot speed to work over Thatcher before they had a slugfest of their own. The finish saw WALTER holding back Sekimoto while Thatcher choked out Sawa.

Post match the crowd gave a standing ovation as all four men showed each other respect for the battle they went through.

Stokely Hathaway then made his way from behind the curtain to offer Thatcher a chance to bow out of the tag team championship match tomorrow, Darby Allin then took the mic and offered to fight WALTER right now, he was destroyed and left laying as Ringkampf left.

- Matthew Riddle defeated Zack Sabre Jr. to win the EVOLVE Championship
Well paced match early on with Sabre having a counter for everything in Riddle’s playbook, a technical masterpiece by Zack before the strikes and power moves came in to play. Riddle hit various knee strikes and his Gotch Style Brostone for near falls before locking in the Bromission to become the new EVOLVE champion.

Sabre Jr. handed him the title in a show of respect as the crowd showed their appreciation for the match and the show. The two fist bumped to close out the show.

Here are resutls from this afternoon's Matt Riddle's Bloodsport event from Game Changer Wrestling.

- Dominic Garrini defeated KTB
Dom took everything KTB had and was still able to wrap him up for a triangle submission.

- Eddie Kingston defeated Tracy Williams
A vicious spinning backlist by Kingston caused the ref stoppage KO.

- Masada defeated Martin Stone
Ref stoppage after elbows despite the commentary team questioning the fast call.

- WALTER defeated Tom Lawlor
Great match up here with WALTER taking Tom’s sleeve off of his injured arm and working it over. Huge chop exchange that WALTER of course got the better of. He wrapped Filthy Tom up in a head and arm choke for the submission.

- Dan Severn defeated Chris Dickinson
An incredible entrance by The Beast with his team carrying various championships while the original UFC theme played. Mat based match early on, Dickinson had what would be an apparent stoppage yet the referee did not make the call. After the non call, Severn choked out Dickinson with a rear naked.

Post match, Dickinson attacked Severn on the outside before it could be broken up by Matt Riddle, among others.

- Nick Gage defeated Timothy Thatcher
These two brawled on the outside which was the first time that had happened today, the people were behind Gage during the striking battle. Gage won via KO after repeated forearm strikes to the head.

- Minoru Suzuki defeated Matthew Riddle
Suzuki was a last minute replacement for Low Ki and the crowd absolutely loved him along with Riddle. They battled all over ringside and using the apron for leverage on various holds. Suzuki and Riddle exchanged chops and while most times Suzuki laughs off his opponents, he was all business tonight and switched to strikes to cut off the powerful chops. Suzuki caught Riddle in a choke that Bro tried to fight out of but it was too deep and the referee called it.

Post match, Suzuki shook his hand before embracing Riddle as the crowd celebrated along with them.

BEYOND WRESTLING LIT UP RESULTS: FULL CARD OF INTERGENDER MATCHES
Image

Thursday night of WrestleMania week ended with Beyond Wrestling's "Lit Up," which featured a full card of intergender matches.

- Matt Riddle defeated Deonna Purrazzo
This was both Riddle and Purrazzo's first-ever intergender match. It was also Riddle's third match of the day. They exchanged holds and did chain wrestling early until Riddle won with a powerbomb and knee strike combo.

After the match, Riddle let the crowd know that he had to finish it because Purrazzo was kicking his ass. James Ellsworth then attacked Riddle from behind with his Intergender Championship before running off scared when Riddle took the mic to say that everyone knows Ellsworth F'd up. They have a match at Joey Janela's Spring Break II tonight.

- Jordynne Grace & LuFisto defeated LAX (Ortiz & Santana)
Grace and LuFisto used their powerbomb/muscle buster combo and won in a fast-paced and action-packed bout.

- Josh Briggs defeated Davienne
Briggs won with a huge chokeslam backbreaker.

- Thunder Rosa & Holidead defeated Chris Dickinson & Jaka
They had a hard-hitting back-and-forth match, with Rosa and Holidead winning after a flurry of huge moves -- including a pedigree and an off the top foot stomp.

- Jonathan Gresham defeated Karen Q
Gresham is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world and Karen Q was with him every step of the way here. Gresham won with a bridging pinning combination. The crowd applauded this when it was over.

- Solo Darling & Travis Huckabee defeated Joey Ryan & Laura James
Ryan tried his Sweet Tooth Music on Darling, but the lollipop gave her a burst of energy that allowed her to apply the cloverleaf for the submission victory.

- Powerbomb TV Independent Champion Tracy Williams defeated Kimber Lee to retain his title
Kimber Lee was returning to Beyond Wrestling after being released by WWE. It took everything Williams had for him to submit her with a crossface.

- Tessa Blanchard defeated Maxwell Jacob Friedman (w/ Stokely Hathaway, Wheeler Yuta, and Mia Yim)
Yim had been out of action due to injury and was returning here. MJF was the instigator in this one until he refused to let anyone go for the banned piledriver, which took his focus away and allowed Blanchard to get the victory.

- Jessicka Havok defeated Jimmy Havoc
Two chokeslams and a sit-out powerbomb ended this one after Havok kicked out of the Acid Rainmaker.

- Joey Janela & Penelope Ford defeated Orange Cassidy & Session Moth Martina
This was the most wild, all-over-the-place comedy match that could happen at 2:30 a.m. Cassidy used the slowest Canadian Destroyer ever, which is a banned move in the state of Louisiana. Ford hit him with a crossbody for the pin.

- Toni Storm defeated Timothy Thatcher
Good match here at nearly 3 a.m. Thatcher was busted open along the way, then Storm put him away with an armbar.
