BRM Reviews NJPW Power Struggle 2013

NJPW Power Struggle 2013 (11/9/2013)- Osaka, Japan

FOREVER HOOLIGANS, YUJIRO TAKAHASHI, & YOSHI-HASHI vs. MANABU NAKANISHI, CAPTAIN NEW JAPAN, KUSHIDA, & BUSHI- 5.5/10

IWGP JR. HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: TAKA Michinoku & Taichi(c) vs. The Young Bucks- 7/10
WHOA! Didn't see that title change coming. I thought they were building to Forever Hooligans vs. TAKA Michinoku & Taichi at the January 4th Tokyo Dome show, but apparently not.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Forever Hooligans came out and said that they were the rightful champions of the Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Division and that they were going to be the Bucks first challengers. Then KUSHIDA came out and announced that the Time Splitters would be returning and they wanted a title shot. Then TAKA Michinoku cut a promo in which I assume he said that he and Taichi wanted their rematch. I guess they're building to a four way at the Tokyo Dome. Should be great.

KATSUYORI SHIBATA vs. TAMAOKI HONMA- 5/10

YUJI NAGATA & KAZUSHI SAKURABA vs. TAKASHI IIZUKA & TORU YANO- 3.5/10
Before the match Nagata grabs one of the announcers, handcuffs him, drags him over the railing, rips his shirt off spray-paints his face and body, and starts to draw on him... and no one even made one single move to help this poor guy.
The match was itself was very dull.

MATCH FOR THE NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES AND THE IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TEAM TITLES: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima(IWGP Heavywieght Tag Team Champions) vs. Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr.(NWA World Tag Team Champions) vs. Rob Conway & Jax Dane- 4.75/10
The winner of the first fall got the NWA World Tag Team Titles and the winner of the second fall got the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles.

TOGI MAKABE & KOTA IBUSHI vs. BULLET CLUB (Prince Devitt & Bad Luck Fale)- 6.25/10
Ibushi pins Devitt, hopefully leading to an IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title match to actually make that belt relevant again. Makebe and Fale kept brawling after the match.

HIROSHI TANAHASHI vs. TOMOHIRO ISHII- 8/10

MATCH FOR THE TOKYO DOME #1 CONTENDERS CONTRACT AND THE NEVER OPENWIEGHT TITLE: Tetsuya Naito(c)(c) vs. Masato Tanaka- 7.5/10

IWGP INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Shinsuke Nakamura(c) vs. Minoru Suzuki- 7.5/10
I absolutely loved everything they did hear until Nakamura just stopped selling his knee. This match easily could have been an 8.5 if Nakamura had sold his knee the whole way through.

IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Kazuchika Okada(c) vs. Karl "Machine Gun" Anderson- 7.75/10

Another great show from New Japan.

Don't worry. So did I. Wikipedia says it was back in April. It doesn't matter anymore, though, because Conway and Dane won the belts.
