NJPW G1 Climax 24: Day 9 (8/4/2014)- Nagoya, Japan

BLOCK A MATCH: Tomoaki Honma vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr. (w/TAKA Michinoku)- 6.25/10
Apparently doing a single-leg crab while stepping on your opponent’s head is illegal. Someone should warn Eddie Edwards.

BLOCK B MATCH: Yujiro Takahashi vs. Lance Archer (w/TAKA Michinoku)- 6.25/10
Yujiro jumped Archer, going after his knee, which was presumably still injured from his match with AJ Styles last night. Just like last night, his selling fell apart a bit once he started making his comeback. Yujiro win with multiple low blows in true heel fashion, and just one night after seeing him get the ass-kicking he deserved, he has now once again become the heel I hate the most in New Japan.

BLOCK A MATCH: Doc Gallows vs. Yuji Nagata- 6.5/10

BLOCK B MATCH: Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Togi Makabe- 6.75/10
They worked over each other’s head and neck with lariats and stuff.

BLOCK B MATCH: Tetsuya Naito vs. Minoru Suzuki (w/TAKA Michinoku)- 7.5/10
Suzuki just ripped Naito’s leg to shreds… then Naito stopped selling it. So much for that. They did have some great exchanges in here, though.

BLOCK A MATCH: Katsuyori Shibata vs. Bad Luck Fale- 6.5/10
Good for what it was, and they found a good spot to do the countout (I assume Shibata just plain refused to get beaten in the middle of the ring by Fale).

BLOCK A MATCH: Satoshi Kojima vs. Shinsuke Nakamura- 8/10

BLOCK B MATCH: Karl Anderson vs. AJ Styles- 8/10
Great action and great counters. They tried to trick each other into getting rolled up in the beginning, but despite this, they were still friends at the end.

BLOCK A MATCH: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Shelton X Benjamin (w/TAKA Michinoku)- 7.5/10
Tanahashi is a great babyface, and Shelton working his ankle so brutally really got you behind him.

BLOCK B MATCH: Hirooki Goto vs. Kazuchika Okada (w/Gedo)- 8/10
They work over each other’s heads. The match was predictably awesome.

Another awesome G1 show from New Japan.
