BRM Reviews wXw The Inner Circle IX

wXw The Inner Circle IX (3/5/2020)- Oberhausen, Germany

RUST TAYLOR vs. JULIAN PACE- 6.75/10
A solid opener.

GOLDENBOY SANTOS vs. “THE AVALANCHE” ROBERT DREISSKER- 5.5/10
An okay brawl, but they spent way too much time on the outside.

MARIUS AL-ANI vs. THE ROTATION vs. VAUGHN VERTIGO vs. HEKTOR- 6.5/10
Very choreographed but very fun.

LEVANIEL vs. JAY SKILLET- 6/10
Levaniel came out parodying Absolute Andy. He had the mannerisms down perfectly. I just wish they had put some subtitles on the screen here like they do for pretty much all of the other shows.
They had a fun match playing up the Andy stuff. Wasn’t a fan of their friendly interaction after the match, though.

KILLER KELLY vs. STEPHANIE MAZE- 5.75/10
Solid stuff, and a good debut for Maze, but given what they did with Maze this weekend, it would have been nice to see her get more than the eight or nine minutes this got to really make her feel like she is more than just the average young wrestler to even minimally justify the title shot she’ll wind up getting. Post-match respect from Killer Kelly is nice, but nowhere near enough to make her feel like she is more than the generic babyface they might bring in to put Kelly over.

SCOTTY DAVIS vs. SHIGEHIRO IRIE- 6.75/10
Another match was that good for the 8-10 minutes it got, but nothing worth going out of your way to see.

DAISUKE IKEDA & YUKI ISHIKAWA vs. DANIEL MAKABE & CHRIS RIDGEWAY- 7.75/10
Some excellent grapplef*ck and striking.

This was a fine show from wXw, but really nothing more. If you’re looking to kill an hour and forty minutes by watching some decent wrestling then this is fine, but there are better wrestling uses of an hour and forty minutes out there, and this show had only the most marginal of storyline importance. I don’t really expect much more than one great main event from an Inner Circle show so this wasn’t disappointing, but that doesn’t make it a show I can really recommend, either.
