BRM Reviews wXw We Love Wrestling #4 (3/12/2021)

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS FAST TIME MOODO- good
He’s feeling depressed after last week’s loss. He feels like he really needs to win tonight.

ENDER KARA TRIAL SERIES MATCH: Ender Kara vs. Fast Time Moodo- 4.75/10
This was really great martial artist vs martial artist stuff while it lasted. Moodo got vicious and even bordered on heelish. Kara did not do anything showboat-y this week, and the commentator pushed that this was a sign that he had learned his lesson. This was yet another match on wXw TV that I wish would have been longer, but if they are trying to get over Fast Time Moodo as more of a killer due to his attitude, then having it go short was the right move.

LEVANIEL’S PRE-MATCH PROMO- fine
He talks up his “winning streak” (he’s just 2-0) and still thinks he can convince Marius Al-Ani to change his mind and team with him in the tag title tournament.

LEVANIEL vs. GULYAS JUNIOR- 5/10
Gulyas Junior is a big, fat, and apparently smelly guy, so they built the story around the size difference. Gulyas was wearing a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off… but also wrestling trunks, rather than the ripped jeans you’d expect to go with that. Levaniel won clean in seven and a half minutes. That’s three in a row, so now it’s officially a winning streak.
The referee refused to count a pin for Gulyas after a hair-pull, and the announcer explained that “you can’t transition into a pin from an illegal hold.” Well if that’s the rule then I will hold you to it, wXw.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS LEVANIEL- fine
Levaniel once again appeals to Marius Al-Ani to team up with him in the tag title tournament.

SOME TEAMS FOR THE TAG TITLE TOURNAMENT ARE ANNOUNCED- They are Ezel, a team from the wXw Wrestling Academy (Anil Marik & Vincent Heisenberg), Rott & Flott, and Pretty Bastards, who are getting a by to the second round. I assume the by is because they are former champions who never got their rematch, but that really should have been clearly stated.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS ROTT & FLOTT- good
They both tried to get into wXw nine years ago and didn’t have much of a run and they’re bitter about it. They are disdainful of the “Joe Schmoes” they see on the roster. Including Alpha Kevin, who is their partner tonight. Kevin showed up and cut a goofy Kevin promo about how much he likes them (especially Shenkenberg). He doesn’t seem to realize that they don’t like him.

wXw ACADEMY (“The Avalanche” Robert Dreissker, Anik Marik, & Vincent Heisenberg) vs. ALPHA KEVIN & ROTT & FLOTT (Nikita Charisma & Michael Shenkenberg)- 7/10
Hey, look! They gave something a solid fifteen minutes!
They gave Rott & Flott time to show us what they could do. The finish saw Marik able to make a needed tag, but silly Heisenberg wasn’t holding the tag rope so it didn’t count, and Marik was immediately rolled up and pinned. Avalanche was annoyed at this mental lapse.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TEAM ACADEMY- great
Heisenberg blamed the loss on Marik not listening to his advice to do a shoulder block. Marik blamed Heisenberg for not holding the tag rope. Avalanche stepped in to play peacemaker and talked about how they will work together in training to get both guys on the same page before the tournament starts next week. Heisenberg’s confidence was shot by this loss and he walked off. Avalanche has been absolutely tremendous in his role as a kayfabe coach to his students.

HEKTOR INVICTUS PROMO- good

wXw SHOTGUN TITLE MATCH: Norman Harras(c) vs. Hektor Invictus- 5.75/10
Norman did the heel “I don’t like the way you did my introduction. Redo it” schtick, but unlike Shane McMahon, he did it in a way where it didn’t feel like he wasting everyone’s times.
Hektor worked the arm. Norman won with a roll-up after a low blow.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS NORMAN HARRAS- decent
Norman was a fine heel braggart who then got upset when informed of his next challenge and started complaining. He will defend his title next week against Fast Time Moodo.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS BOBBY GUNNS- fine
Andy asks Bobby about Marius Al-Ani and Avalanche as potential challengers but Bobby says he doesn’t care who challenges him. He then cut a promo on The Rotation to build up…

THE ROTATION vs. BOBBY GUNNS- 4/10
The Rotation did some Lucha. Bobby kept going for the single-leg crab and eventually got the win with it.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS MARIUS AL-ANI- good
Andy once again asks about Levaniel’s offer to team with Marius in the tag title tournament, and Marius once again responds by explaining to us (rather convincingly) why he should be the #1 contender. He also made sure to been to the “little rookie” he will be wrestling tonight.

MARIUS AL-ANI vs. PETER TIHANYI- 5.5/10
Tihanyi put a better fight than expected.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- fine
Andy Jackson came to the ring for his usual post-match interview with Marius but Levaniel interrupted them to directly ask Marius to team with him in the tag title tournament. Marius turned him down, but Levaniel kept trying to persuade him. Marius started to mock Levaniel by teasing that he would team with him but then insulting all of the names he came up with. Levaniel didn’t realize he was being mocked and went off to sign them up as a team. I image that Absolute Andy will happily accept this pairing because he likes f*cking with people.

THE OTHER THREE TEAMS IN THE TAG TITLE TOURNAMENT ARE REVEALED- In addition to Marius Al-Ani & Levaniel, we will also have the exciting French duo of Senza Volto & Aigle Blanc, and the Arrows of Hungary.

AVALANCHE, ANIL MARIK, & VINCENT HEISENBERG INTERVIEW- fine
Heisenberg is considering pulling out of the tournament because he thinks they’re going to screw up and loose. Avalanche hopes that he will agree to stay in it. The Arrows of Hungary showed up and Avalanche put them over. They said they were sure that the students are in good hands with Avalanche as their coach.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS EMIL SITOCI- very good

SOME OTHER GUY INTERVIEWS TRISTAN ARCHER- meh

EMIL SITOCI vs. TRISTIAN ARCHER- 6.75/10
Good stuff, but not quite main event-quality. Sitoci’s knee injury (which he suffered in a match with Archer during Catch World Grand Prix) flared up again and he tapped out to a Sharpshooter. The announcer pushed Archer as a possible #1 contender.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TRISTAN ARCHER- fine
Andy tells everyone that we’ll find out who the #1 contender is next week, and he asks Archer what he thinks his chances of being the #1 contender are. Archer answers exactly how you’d expect: by stating his case.

This was a fine episode of We Love Wrestling. I was happy to see the matches be given more time this week. Hopefully that trend will continue.
