BRM Reviews wXw True Colors 2021

wXw True Colors 2021 (10/24/2021)- Dresden, Germany

Even though this show was taped on and acknowledged as having happened on October 21st, it wasn’t released until the 31st, so watch all of the TV released before that date first if you want to watch things in order.

wXw WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Arrows of Hungary(c) vs. The Family (Vincent Heisenberg & Maggot) (w/Baby Allison)- 6.5/10
We started off with Maggot taunting the Arrows into charging up the ramp to get them… but the Arrows just won the brawl and tossed the heels into the ring, so that whole bit really didn’t matter to the match at all.
The story here was the heels using referee distractions to their advantage. They build up to Baby Allison going for the double low-blow like she did at We Love Wrestling #23, but the babyfaces were ready for it this time and closed their legs on her arms, then spun and snapped her arms. The babyfaces won soon after. I was hoping for these guys to get more time than this, as they have all proven that they can deliver when given the time. Including the brawling on the stage before the official start of the match, this only when about twelve minutes.

DAN INTERVIEWS NORMAN HARRAS- good
Norman explains that he is upset at Avalanche for saving him from Heisenberg because he fells that that is Avalanche treating him like a trainee. Standard heel misinterpreting things in the most egocentric way possible.

NORMAN HARRAS vs. “THE AVALANCHE” ROBERT DREISSKER- 6.25/10
Avalanche wins clean. Norman feels completely directionless at this point, which is a shame, because he often feels like he is one big storyline away from breaking into the main event scene.

DAN INTERVIEWS FAST TIME MOODO- good
He says that Stephanie Maze will win the women’s title tonight. He also put over his opponent for tonight, Peter Tihanyi, framing their match as a show-down of up-and-coming youngsters.

FAST TIME MOODO vs. PETER TIHANYI- 7.75/10
Holy sh*t did this build well. We stated with a nice exchange of strikes and an indy stand-off, and ended with a bunch of dives, with the finish being a dive countered with a roundhouse kick.

DAN INTERVIEWS IVA KOLASKY- fine
She says she’s going to win the women’s title.

wXw SHOTGUN TITLE MATCH: Michael Knight(c) vs. Dennis “Cash” Dullnig- 6/10
Dullnig came out on a scooter, looking like a total clown. Knight won clean.

ANIL MARIK & LAURANCE ROMAN vs. GULYAS JUNIOR & ZERITUS- 6/10
Anil and Roman pick up the win. I’m not really sure why this is on the card, so maybe they’re moving Avalanche into more of a singles role?

DAN INTERVIEWS STEPHANIE MAZE- fine
She assures us that the injuries that plagued her in the previous match are now behind her and she is feeling much better.

MATCH 3 IN A BEST OF 3 SERIES TO CROWN A NEW wXw WOMEN’S CHAMPION: Iva Kolasky(1) vs. Stephanie Maze(1)- 5/10
As I’m sure you’ll be shocked to find out, Stephanie Maze might not have been telling the whole truth in the above interview. She started having problems with her equilibrium after a shot to the head, and she got beaten clean in eight-and-a-half minutes. Obviously there is a larger story being told here, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling a little cheated out of this big match.

DAN INTERVIEWS IVA KOLASKY- standard deliriously happy “babyface who just won the title stuff”

wXw UNIFIED WORLD WRESTLING TITLE MATCH: Marius Al-Ani(c) vs. Axel Tischer- 8/10
There was lots of drama here with so much on the line. The story was about Tischer having to prove that he could still go at Marius’ level, and while he was able to hang in here and withstand the punishment, I think the finish- Marius’ foot got caught into the rope and he stumbled forward, allowing Tischer to catch him with a knee to the head that knocked him out- worked against this. Obviously this sets up a story of Tischer now having to prove himself as champion, but I don’t think that story is worthwhile enough to end Marius’ huge eighteen-month undefeated streak in a way that feels so fluky.

AXEL TISCHER PROMO- a nice babyface speech

This was a solid show from wXw, but now that they are touring again, there is no excuse for the big shows to not be better than just solid. They need to cut down on unnecessary matches (like the random tag with Anil) and give other matches more time. They’ve spent the pandemic elevating the likes of Maggot and the Arrows of Hungary and Anil and Heisenberg and Norman Harras and Fast Time Moodo and Stephanie Maze. Now they need to let them go out there and deliver to the level they are being pushed at.
