BRM Reviews the 10/24/2019 NXT UK

OPENING SEGMENT- decent
Imperium come out and cut a promo but are interrupted by Gallus. Joe Coffey told them that NXT UK is “our kingdom. You four just live in it.” He also had some clever lines, including referring to WALTER as “big jolly Wally,” which seems like the kind of thing that WALTER can get annoyed at fans for chanting at him. The biggest strike against this was that it felt so odd for Imperium o just let Joe Coffey run his mouth on them without any sort of retaliation or retort.

GRIZZLED YOUNG VETERANS vs. ASHTON SMITH & OLIVER CARTER- 5.5/10
GYV win clean, then attack the babyfaces after the match as well. “Flash” Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews came out to make the save.

TYLER BATE INTERVIEW- fine
He puts A-Kid over as someone he has his eye on.

HEEL TAG TEAMS BACKSTAGE- good
GYV are complaining to each other about Andrews and Webster when they bump into Gallus. Zack Gibson cut a promo on Gallus, telling them they should be more worried about GYV than Imperium. Gallus just stood there smugly. This was a perfectly natural confrontation to start nudging Gallus in the babyface direction that the opening segment is clearly setting them up to go.

TRAVIS BANKS vs. EL LIGERO- 6/10
Ten minutes of fine babyface wrestling, ending in a double-pinfall.

JORDAN DEVLIN VS. DAVE MASTIFF VIDEO PACKAGE- fine

NOAM DAR vs. TRENT SEVEN- 8/10
Dar jumped Seven as he tried to get into the ring. He beat him up on the outside, then tied his arm to the ringpost with his signature towel so he couldn’t even roll out of the way, they dropkicked his arm into the ringpost. They proceeded to have a match that was the best thing on NXT UK TV in a very long time, by MILES.

This was a good show from NXT UK, which isn’t something I’ve been sating very often recently. But still, the awesome main event here that was the best thing on NXT UK in forever… was a match on a level that we usually get (or at least come close to) multiple times a show on both NXT and AEW.
