DRAKE MAVERICK HYPES UP THE MATCHES- FAN-F*CKING-TASTIC!
‘This is a sport. Here are the athletes you will see tonight, here are the journeys they have been on, and here are their greatest strengths. Stay tuned to find out who is the better wrestler.’ This is what pro wrestling should be, dammit!

LINCÉ DORADO & KALISTO SELFIE PROMO- good stuff.

WRESTLEMANIA #1 CONTENDERSHIP TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL MATCH: Tony Nese vs. Kalisto- 8/10
Vic Joseph said that Kalisto has said that if he wins the title, he will rename it the “Lucha-weight Title.” If Vic made that up, he needs a major talking-to. If Kalisto actually said that, he needs a major talking-to, and Vic needs a major talking-to for repeating it. Either way, Aiden English needs a major talking-to for endorsing something so stupid.
The match itself was awesome, but I found it harder to enjoy as time went on because Aiden English’s commentary was SOOOO F*CKING ANNOYING! The best way I can explain it is to tell you to imagine what Michael Cole would be like if he was free of Vince’s favorite phrases and requirements to keep hitting the same exact points over and over and over again and so was allowed to be a competent announcer, but still had that Michael Cole delivery where he has to lay everything on so thick. Then throw in the fact that he felt like he was talking all the time and trying to call the match alone rather than working as a team.

JACK GALLAGHER EXPLAINS TO HUMBERTO CARRILLO THAT WRISTLOCKS WORK JUST AS WELL AS HIGH-FLYING, BUT WITHOUT THE RISK- He used a clip from Carrillo’s recent match to illustrate this. Carrillo sat there and seemed to consider his input.

MIKE & MARIA MEET WITH DRAKE MAVERICK BACKSTAGE- He has them booked in a match next week. Maria is certain that this will be the match in which Mike breaks his losing streak.

WRESTLEMANIA #1 CONTENDERSHIP TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINAL MATCH: Brian Kendrick vs. Drew Gulak- 7.75/10
Apparently Brian Kendrick has NEVER had a match at WrestleMania. I didn’t realize that, but him winning this tournament would be one hell of a great story, wouldn’t it?
Unfortunately, he didn’t win, passing out in the Gu-Lock. These guys had a much more grounded, technical match that the high-flying and hard-hitting opener, which was a smart route to go.

Another awesome episode of 205 Live. This tournament is going to rock. If you’re looking for a good jumping-on point for 205 Live, this would be it.
