BRM Reviews the 9/11/2019 NXT

RHEA RIPLEY SHOWS UP AT THE ARENA- This did not feel important at all and left me wondering why she was striding so dramatically for the mundane act of showing up to work.

DAMIAN PRIEST vs. BOA- squash

RODERICK STRONG VS. THE VELVETEEN DREAM VIDEO PACKAGE- good
They’re facing off for TVD’s North American Title next week.

JOHNNY GARGANO ADDRESSES HIS FUTURE- fine
He came out and teased leaving but then Shane Thorne came out and told him to get lost because his time was done with. Gargano teased leaving, then declared that he was staying. Thorne tried to attack him from behind but ducked the punch and laid Thorne out with a superkick.

FORGOTTEN SONS VIDEO PACKAGE- They vow to be forgotten no more. Until this video package aired, I had completely forgotten they were on the roster, and I’m one of the few people who actually like them.

PETE DUNNE vs. ANGEL GARZA- 5.5/10
I wish this had gotten a lot more than eight minutes. Dunne won, but Garza was allowed to get some shine first.

STREET PROFTS PROMO- fine
They want the belts back so they’re challenging Undisputed Era for the tag titles next week.

RAUL MENDOZA vs. CAMERON GRIMES- squash
Grimes’ top hat makes him look like a dork. It needs to go. Despite his terrible hat, Grimes won the match.

CANDICE LERAE IN WILLIAM REGAL’S OFFICE- Candice rightly points out that it’s BS that Io is getting rewarded for assaulting people by getting put in a #1 ontendership match. To mollify Candice, Regal throws her in the match as well so she can get her hands on Io. He also muses that if Rhea Ripley wins her match tonight, it might turn into a five-way. DUDE… Rhea is wrestling the f*cking champion! If she wins, she deserves a title shot, not just being put in a #1 contendership match.

DAOTA KAI VIDEO PACKAGE- snore
She’s coming back soon.

Apparently next week’s card is split between USA (first hour) and the WWE Network (second hour). They told us that Roddy vs. TVD would be in the first hour and that Dain vs. Riddle in a Street Fight would be in the second hour.

RHEA RIPLEY vs. SHAYNA BASZLER- 5/10
I guess this “Rhea is dominating, Horsewomen cause a distraction, Baszler tries to use a chair but Rhea blocks it and uses it on Baszler for the DQ” finish was the best option if you’re trying to hold off on giving Ripley a title shot until TakeOver: War Games 2019 in November, but doesn’t mean it’s not frustrating to see in a main event.

UNDISPUTED ERA PROMO- good heel stuff about how they’ll win all of the gold

A decent episode of NXT. It was an effective go-home show for the first USA show.
