Kind of a weird time to do this right before the PPV rather than right after.

You're right, but I also appreciate going in to the PPV knowing where everyone stands. It adds another dimension to PAC vs Hangman, as by the numbers the results of the PPV should decide the next #1 Contender.

I'm a little thrown by how they're figuring it, though. How does Moxley make the Top 5 with a 1/1/1 record? Going off his promo, it'd make more kayfabe sense to leave him off this list... especially with only 1 official win, which was over Janella I think, so you can't even throw in quality of competition...

This is a flaw with all of these lists that you'll find in pro wrestling. AEW doing it is more than a little baffling, as the wrestlers' records already give us this info. It's something that could be useful to introduce down the line (to show that someone who is 9-3 is doing better than someone who is 25-20), but for right now it's a very odd choice.

it's supposed to happen every friday, but starting this specific week does seem like and odd time. I totally blame the conference call where Cody was called out on.

this is where streaks and who you defeat in what type of matches matters.

The bigger issue is that it's not clear which matches are counting for this thing. It took me a while to find out that they counted the 4-way at FF in Page's record for example. Also Spears was 2-2, so you'd think he would be above Moxley since it's a bigger sample than just two matches.

The sample thing should have been the excuse not to post those rankings so early and also a prerequisite, like you need five matches (let's say three for the women) to "enter" the rankings and be eligible for a title match (totally not looking at you, THE ARTIST).

Seems like it would make more sense to release dark on Monday and put the list out on Tuesday.

Rankings on monday

Dynamite on wed

dark on friday.

but i guess they do use Dark to promote Dynamite. rankings could be a 15 minute video with Schiavone or Golden Boy that could help promote dynamite too for that matter.
