We get a super cool video package hyping up the painfulness of being hit with chairs, ladders, and tables.
Ladder Match for the ECW Champuonship
"The Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin vs Christian
-At one point Christian hooks Shelton's leg to avoid him leaving the ring, awesome
Lots of cool spots, including two powerbombs, and a splash through the ladder. Great match.
7/10
Drew McIntyre vs John Morrison for the Intercontinental Championship.
-Great stuff, lots of rest holds, lots of babyface in peril.
5.25/10
Mickie James vs Michelle McCool w/ Layla for the Women's Championship
-This was right off the heels of "Piggie James" which was genuinely uncomfortable to watch
-Striker, being the babyface, says Michelle being a bitch is innocent fun.
-Tie up that goes through the ropes
-Cool Huricanrana off the barricade, spot.
-The tease a miscommunication win with Layla, but Michelle ends up kicking Mickie and getting the win
6.85/10
We get a video package for Cena/Sheamus
"Best case scenario you lose your WWE Title. Worst case, I'm gonna put you through a table?" How does that make sense, considering it's a Tables match.
John Cena vs Sheamus for the WWE Title match, Cena vs Sheamus
-Very few table teases, and a questionable finish, was made better by a super pro Cena crowd
-Micheal Cole is actually selling that he can't believe Cena lost
6.75/10
We get a video package with the birth of heel Batista, and lots and lots of chair usage, justifying one of the dumbest match types of all time, a Chair match, where only chairs are legal.
Undertaker vs Batista, WHC, chair match.
-Striker yries to sell us on the fact that the Chair match is more dangerous than a Hell in a Cell and a Chamber match, thus the most dangerous match of Taker's career, guh.
-Lots of teased/missed chair shots
-Batista teases a Batista Bomb on a chair like he's been doing for all of the feud and gets countered
-We actually do get a chair signature, we get a False finish with the Hell's Gate
- We get a low blow and Chair shot
-The match is restarted
- We get a quick tombstone and this one's over.
6.95/10 would've been a 7 if not for the restart.
We get a video package for Kingston/Orton
Segment with Kofi, Legacy goes to send Kofi a message while he's warming up, so instead he just goes and finds Randy Orton, and tells him that he'll beat him.
Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton.
- Matt Striker says a closed fist is illegal. What?
- We get a cool Crossbody countered with a dropkick spot outside the ring.
- Very classic Orton, lots of stomps and stalking
-False finishes hurray
- Orton counters an apron move with a very quick Orton DDT.
- Orton punts Kofi's shoulder instead of his head.
-Orton dodges a sudden Trouble in Paradise with an RKI
7.5/10, make Kofi looked really good
We get a really dumb segment where Batista almost hits Teddy with a Chair
Jerisho vs DX for the Tag Team titles
-We get a chair fight between Jericho and HBK
-Jericho and Big Show are handling a ladder, Big Show is outside and Jericho is inside, HBK shoves Big Show into the ladder which also hurts Jericho.
- Cool ladder battering ram spot with Big Show and DX
-Triple H gets hung up on the ladderin the turnbuckle, gets Triple H AND Big Show whipped into him
-Jericho takes a Flair turnbuckle bump on the same ladder
-Triple H throws a ladder out of the ring onto Jericho's head.
We get some finisher trades and Big Show hits the world's dumbest spear
- Who brings a "Has been Kid" sign to a WWE show in San Antonio?
- The tease a Big Show ladder climb, HHH hits Show with a chair, Big Show casually climbs down and punches a chair into Big Show's face.
HBK assists HHH in a pedigree on Big Show
-HBK takes a bump off the ladder, out of the ring, onto Big Show.
- A running powerbomb by HHH
- Big Show chokeslams HBK into Triple H into a Table
-- Jericho takes a stiff bump out of the ring through a table, as his chin just bounches off of it.
-DX may be the only team to win a TLC match with half a ladder.
8.5/10
Final thoughts
Once again, a passible PPV with a GREAT TLC match. I think the show was ordered strangely, as Sheamus winning the WWE Title could've been a good go-home spot, but I can see why it was done how it was.
