BRM Reviews WWE Summer Slam 2011

WWE SUMMERSLAM (8/14/2011)- Los Angeles, CA

THE MIZ, R-TRUTH, & ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. KOFI KINGSTON, JOHN MORRISON, & REY MYSTERIO- 6.75/10. Morrison’s extremely limited roll in this match has me wondering how healthy he is.

PUNK & PEOPLE BACKSTAGE- The stuff with Johnny Ace was eh. I popped HUGE for Steph. She and Punk were great.

MARK HENRY vs. SHEAMUS- 7.5/10. I LOVED this match. Best big-man match I’ve seen in a long time! Both men come out of it looking very strong.

CELO GREEN CONCERT- waste of time. This is a wrestling show.

WWE DIVAS TITLES MATCH: Kelly Kelly(c) (w/Eve Torres) vs. Beth Phoenix (w/Natalya)- 6/10. Did not see that coming. There definitely should have been a post-match beatdown, though.

R-TRUTH & JIMMY HART- Funny.

WADE BARRETT vs. DANIEL BRYAN- 7/10.

EDGE & CHRISTIAN SEGMENT- Good

NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Christian(c) vs. Randy Orton- 8/10. Awesome match, good use of weapons, and a great story.

WWE TITLE MATCH WITH TRIPLE H AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: John Cena(c) vs. CM Punk(c)- 8.75/10.

WHOA! Didn’t see that coming!

OR THAT!

Overall, a GREAT show from WWE! Almost all of the matches were TV main event quality or better. Definitely a must-see show.

i thought you would give this a bigger rating. I personally loved it. not as much as Orton/Christian, but close to Cena/Punk

It was a great match, but it just didn't feel particularly important, and it never got going enough to get a higher rating, IMO.

I was gonna say the same thing cero did; but good point, BRM. It would have been a lot better if there was something on the line; then again, the fact that it was simply about pride and competition made it pretty damn good.

SS was great....

I'm with this guy, if there was some story or something to go with it (use Bryan's turning his back on Nexus for example) It'd boost it up, make it feel more special, but to be as good as it was just in "spirit of competition" is not to be sniffed at.
