Impact Wrestling Hardcore Justice 2021
April 10, 2021
Nashville, TN

Opening video - This was a promo from Eric Young, hyping up the main event.

Fallah Bahh & TJP vs. Josh Alexander & Petey Williams vs. Ace Austin & Madman Fulton - 6.5/10
Bahh being TJP's mystery tag partner was not really that much of a surprise, but Petey coming out with Alexander was a nice treat. That is a tag team that I wouldn't mind seeing become something.

Really good match, Fulton and Bahh were barely in there, so it really allowed TJP, Ace, Alexander, and Petey to mix it up and do a lot of stuff. Petey and Josh even had some tag team moves ready.

Chairly Legal Match
Hernandez vs. Mahabali Shera - 6/10
When it comes to chair matches, this was not that bad, they used the chairs properly with good spots, but this could had just been a hoss fight and been equally enjoyable. Finish saw Hernandez come close to finishing Shera, but Rohit Raju ran down, attacked Hernandez from behind, and allowed Shera to pin him. So I guess Raju and Shera are back together as a team.

Swinger's Paradise - XXXL and Beer Guns got themselves into drinking game, while Cardona and Swinger got themselves into an actual match.

Doc Gallows (w/Karl Anderson) vs. Black Taurus (w/Crazzy Steve) - 5/10
Wasn't a big fan, it was too heavy on Gallows, that I was close to giving it a squash rating if not for the hope spot that Taurus had towards the end before falling to the double handed chokeslam.

Violence By Design Promo - Same usual stuff EY says about truth and worlds. It's good, but it's just the same thing we get on every promo.

Crate American Bash Match
Johnny Swinger vs. Matt Cardona - 4.5/10
Stipulation is that there is a mystery box on each corner, and whatever you find in the box, is a legal weapon. First weapon was a framed photogram of Scott Hall, found by Swinger. A rat trap on the second box, and finally knucks on the third box, but once he got them, Cardona hit Radio Silence for the win. So to summarize, Swinger's gimmick work was great, wrestling was ok, comedy with the boxes was bad.

For some reason, Cardona took the fourth box back, so he probably found something good.

Sami Callihan Promo - He came out and said he was a good guy only trying to help Trey Miguel. He was there to teach him another lesson of passion, by making an open challenge to anyone that wanted some spotlight.

Sam Beale vs. Sami Callihan - Squash
This is the same geek that Callihan beat up a couple of weeks ago, one of Miguel's trainees. He beat him up, kid had a hope spot, was cut off and killed with the Package Piledriver.

Blindfold Hardcore Match
Brian Myers vs. Jake Something - 4.5/10
Commentary sold it that since this is an empty arena, it changes the approach to some of the previous blindfold matches because there was no audience to play the hot and cold game with them.

I hated the ending, but the match itself, was surprisingly ok for a blindfold match, they didn't overdo the whole "we can't find each other' schtick and instead did some early weapons spots, inside the ring, they did some ok wrestling, that made sense for the blindfold idea, like Something maintaining wrist control to attack Myers with lariats. Finish saw Myers pulled the referee into Something's lariat, take off his mask, and go for the win, but Cardona came down, distracted Myers, tossed the box of his match to Something, who used it on Myers for the win. The box had action figures, because Cardona and Myers.

Team Dreamer Promo - Let's just say that Rich Swann is fired up for the main event.

Impact Knockouts Championship #1 Contendership Weapons 6-Way Match
Alisha Edwards vs. Havok vs. Rosemary vs. Tenille Dashwood (w/Kaleb With A K) vs. Su Yung vs. Jordynne Grace - 7/10
During the entrances, Susan came out, but was interrupted by Su Yung, who took her place. Let me remind you that they're the same person. Su Yung has new undead bride gear and it looks better, more thought out. Rosemary, Havok, and Yung all had a weird face off before the match started. In a really cool match, when no one was paying attention anymore and no one would have noticed, they still had referees come out and carry the dead Susan on the ramp.

The match was quite good, it was really chaotic, there were people all over the place, taking spots. Even Kaleb was there to work as a base for some of the women and take bumps for them. We had kendo sticks, thumbtacks, cooking sheets, a stapler, and garbage cans. We mostly saw Dashwood skip most of the match after she got her butt stapled, we got some Alisha vs Rosemary vs Yung spots, while inside the ring, Havok and Grace had a hoss meet up.

Finish saw Havok get Fuji'd by the former partner Nevaeh, allowing Grace to take her down, hit the Vader Bomb, but as she was about to go for the pin, Kaleb pulled her out of the ring, superkick her, and allow Dashwood to jump in and get the pin and win over Havok.

Per stipulation, we should be getting Dashwood vs the winner of the next match.

Swinger's Paradise Part 2 - They're all drunk and playing beer pong, but at least it ended in a brawl. I take it this becomes an actual match for Thursday.

Impact Knockouts Championship Vs. Career Match
Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Jazz - 7.5/10
This being Hardcore Justice, there was a weapons flexibility to this match, and was used ok, but just like I mentioned in some other matches, it really didn't need it, because Purrazzo is a technician that singles out a limb, but a brawler that relies on weapons, and instead, it was the babyface using the weapons, and even so, was defeated. Purrazzo won with the Queen's Gambit and retires Jazz.

Post-match - Jordynne Grace came out to support Jazz. The story of Jazz's debut was that Grace brought her in after Jazz had already announced her retirement, so even if this is by loss, it's not like she wasn't thinking about retiring anyway.

Pre-match - Team Dreamer and D'Amore found Dreamer laid out backstage, so they're one man short. No Dreamer, YAY!

Hardcore Eight Man Tag Team Match
Violent By Design vs. Team Dreamer (Eddie Edwards, Rich Swann, Trey Miguel & Willie Mack) - 7.5/10
Rules of the match are technically Lethal Lockdown rules, but without the cage. Two wrestlers start, one of each team joins the match after a set time. Match can't end until all wrestlers are out in the match. All weapons are legal.

Edwards and Deaner started, it was ok, Deaner is a good hand, especially to make time. Rhino, Mack, Doering, Swann, EY, and finally Trey Miguel all came out in that order, each bringing new weapons to the match. Up until Miguel came out, it was just a lot of brawling and stalling, Doering, being so overpowered, had to hide for a bit outside the ring, to allow the babyfaces to gain control when Swann came out.

Once everyone was out, the brawl was good, we got a couple of cool spots, the usual tower of doom, a big Meteora to take out Doering through a table. At the end, it came down to Mack and EY, with the latter hitting a piledriver for the win.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Show was decent to good, but for the first special in a while, a lot of the matches felt random. Only the women's matches had some strong consequences to them. Rebellion is weeks away, so I understand that some feuds don't have their counterparts here (Omega & Good Brothers), or that some don't want to spoil to much of the action (Cardona vs Myers or the X Division 3-way), so they filled out the card with gimmicks and random pairings.
