wXw We Love Wrestling #27: Road to 16 Carat Gold 2022 (2/19/2022)- Bielefeld, Germany

WHY IS GROUP B WRESTLING BEFORE GROUP A?! This really bugs me.

ROAD TO 16 CARAT GOLD GROUP B SEMIFINAL MATCH: Goldenboy Santos vs. Norman Harras- 4.75/10
Norman won via pulling the tights (and Santos’ shoulders were also off the mat. The referee was counting from a position where he couldn’t possibly have seen Santos’ shoulders. This was basic stuff and it felt like Norman was saving himself for the final match of his tournament.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS NORMAN HARRAS- good
Norma is SOOO great with the crowd, even in basic little segments like this, just saying he is going to go on to win the tournament.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS LEVANIEL- TREMENDOUS!
This had previously been aired on YouTube. See, Tony Khan? If something important happens not on the main show, you can still put it on the main show so that those of us who don’t watch every little thing on your YouTube channel will still see it and will understand the storylines.
This was Levaniel telling us what winning the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship would mean to him, which is respect. It would be him showing everyone that he’s not the joke he was when he started in wXw, but now a main event-level player and a world title-caliber wrestler.

ROAD TO 16 CARAT GOLD GROUP B SEMIFINAL MATCH: Peter Tihanyi vs. James Runyan- 6.5/10
Good action. Tihanyi won clean.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS ANIL MARIK- good
Anil sees winning his way into 16 Carat as a way to redeem himself for foolishly thinking that the heels wouldn’t just destroy Avalanche’s shoulder anyway if he quit in the Kafigschlacht last month. Andy brought up Anil and Avalanche seeming to have trouble working together at a recent show at the Academy, but Anil brushed it off.

ROAD TO 16 CARAT GOLD GROUP A SEMIFINAL MATCH: Hektor Invictus vs. Tim Stubing- 5.25/10
Dennis Dullnig came out to cheerleader for Hektor and wave his big flag. You know… the thing Hektor has repeatedly told him not to do. Because that’s how you make someone want to be your tag team partner.
Stubbing had the match won, but Dennis distracted he referee. Soon after, he helped Hektor win by hitting Stubbing in the head with Hektor’s flagpole, but this bent the flagpole, angering Hektor… meaning we’re back where we were with these two eleven months ago. There is no excuse for this storyline not to have moved forward.

ROAD TO 16 CARAT GOLD GROUP A SEMIFINAL MATCH: Anil Marik vs. Dennis “Cash” Dullnig (w/Hektor Invictus)- 5/10
Hektor repaid the favor to Dennis by distracting the referee when Anil had Dennis pinned. Dennis eventually won after seemingly murdering Anil dead with a Jumping Double-Underhook Piledriver.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS DENNIS “CASH” DULLNIG- terrible
Once again, Dennis is a dumbf*ck who doesn’t understand how basic things work. Last time we saw him not understand that he was in a three-way rather than a match where he and Hektor were a team. This time, he’s too stupid to understand this is a tournament and he and Hektor will have to wrestle each other later tonight and they can’t both get into 16 Carat.

ON YOUTUBE, ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWED JURN SIMMONS- good
He talks about his three opponents in the wXw Unified World Wrestling Title match on the second night of this year’s 16 Carat Gold. He doesn’t even want to waste words on Tristan Archer, he is getting a little distrustful of Axel Tischer after the eye-poke in their last match. As for Levaniel, they are friends, but he notes that he is a little on edge because every friendship he has had in wXw has resulted someone turning on the other.
He notes that things have been “back and forth” for him since coming back, so he has a choice to make. He can either try to be his past self in an attempt to return to is past glory, or he can reinvent himself, which might be necessary for the new competition here in wXw. He used to be a monster, and he has learned that people aren’t born monsters; they become monsters- like Tristan Archer has. Jurn has decided that he is going to become “a monster that eats other monsters.” I liked how he tied everything together, and was able to both say that “the old Jurn is back” while also telling us he wants to remain a babyface, all in a kayfabe way.

ROTT & FLOTT vs. OSKAR MUNCHOW & “THE AVALANCHE” ROBERT DREISSKER- 6.75/10
Oskar came out first for the babyface team, and Rott & Flott ran away from him, even without Avalanche there. Excellent.
They had a standard tag team match, with Avalanche as the babyface in peril. I was pleasantly surprised that Rott & Flott were allowed to get he clean pin on Oskar. They really needed a win to maintain their credibility, and they were given one.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- fine character stuff.
Avalanche stormed out, not checking on Oskar. Rott & Flot headed backstage and found themselves a camera to brag about their victory into. Oskar came through and yelled at them. Their “loud arguing”- as the subtitle called it- drew the attention of Avalanche, who yelled at Oskar, telling him he has nothing to be yelling about after a “pitiful performance” like that. I didn’t understand why Oskar was yelling, so it was nice to see that I wasn’t the only one. Avalanche sees it as part of his job to keep his students from getting big heads too early in their career (lest they turn out like Norman Harras).

GAYA GLASS vs. AVA EVERETT- 2/10
Everett seemed to have a good arrogant heel character, but then she took it in an extremely odd direction by interrupting the ring announcer to let the fans know that Disney World was in Florida. The announcer played this off like she was being patronizing, and she was… but it was just so weird because of how unsolicited it was and how irrelevant it was.
Everett is too goofy for my tastes. That being said, this goof ripped her opponent’s nose ring out to allow her to set up for her finisher.

AVA EVERETT PROMO- She’s apparently doing a pro-USA gimmick. She says she is coming for wXw Women’s Champion Iva Kolasky.

ON YOUTUBE, ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TRISTAN ARCHER- fine
Andy asks him why he attacked Levaniel at the previous show. He says it’s because Levaniel took a “shortcut” to win the #1 contendership Ladder match. Said “shortcut” was a low blow (which Levaniel was not the first one to use), which isn’t illegal anyway. Good heel logic. Archer says that he will the wXw Unified World Wrestling Title at 16 Carat Gold despite his previous failings because he is now focused on winning at any cost.

ROAD TO 16 CARAT GOLD GROUP B FINAL: Norman Harras vs. Peter Tihanyi- 4.5/10
Norman attacked Tihanyi as he was coming through the ropes. Tihanyi overcame it and lost cleanly. I’m getting extremely disheartened with how Norman has been booked.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS PETER TIHANYI- fine for someone not speaking a second language
Tihanyi becomes the first Hungarian to earn a berth in 16 Carat Gold.

ROAD TO 16 CARAT GOLD GROUP A FINAL: Dennis “Cash” Dullnig vs. Hektor Invictus- DUD!
This was a bunch of stupid Dullnig crap where he refuses t hit Hektor so he’s just ducking his attacks, and scheming up ways to try to have them both advance that everyone but him knows won’t work (like having them both get counted out).
Dennis wouldn’t fight Hektor, so Hektor just beat him up, but even that wasn’t as entertaining as I would have hoped it would be. Dennis eventually decided to hit moves. Hektor tried to hit Dennis with his flagpole and they got into a tug-of-war over it, resulting in Hektor getting hit in the head and knocked out. Dennis became sad and cried and hugged Hektor’s unconscious form, unwilling pinning him because he’s a moron.
This was all terrible and this story needs to end now. What is this even building to? Them teaming together? Why would anyone want to see that? Dennis is an annoying sh*t, and Hektor has told him “no” MANY times. If someone says they’re not interested in you, stop asking them out. The same thing goes with potential tag team partners. Dennis is essentially stalker that poor Hektor is forced to work with.

PREVIOUSLY ON YOUTUBE, ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWED AXEL TISCHER- GREAT!
His slow heel turn continues. I assume they’ll fully pull the trigger (there is probably a metaphor that works better than that, but I’m too lazy to find it) at 16 Carat Gold.

MAGGOT & BABY ALLISON vs. FAST TIME MOODO & STEPHANIE MAZE- 7.25/10
This was a really good match that made me remember why Maze & Moodo are such a fun team to watch. The finish saw Baby Allison take out Maze’s injured knee again with a chop-block, but Maze managed to counter her Figure-Four attempt with a small package for the win.

VIDEO PACKAGE HYPING UP THE wXw UNIFIED WORLD WRESTLING TITLE MATCH AT 16 CARAT GOLD 2022: NIGHT 2- good

This was a fine show from wXw, although the Dennis Dullnig crap definitely brought it down. Not that it really matters much, but I’m a little surprised that they called this an episode of We Love Wrestling, as it was very much a self-contained show. Next is the biggest weekend of the year: 16 Carat Gold!
