BRM Review ROH Survival of the Fittest 2010 (Bonus Disk!)

ROH Survival of the Fittest 2010 (11/12/2010)- Dearborne, MI

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Rhett Titus vs. Colt Cabana- 4.5/10. Not too exciting, but pretty fun, and had a good finish which I had never seen before.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Grizzly Redwood vs. Claudio Castagnoli (w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey)- 3.75/10

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Kyle O’Reilly vs. Kevin Steen (w/Steve Corino)- 6.25/10
Great post-match segment. This was the first time that Corino “lost control” of Steen on a show.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Adam Cole vs. Steve Corino (w/Kevin Steen)- 5.25/10
Steen and Corino go for a post-match beatdown, but Generico makes the save. Generico winds up getting put through a table.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: Eddie Edwards vs. Chris Hero (w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey)- 6/10

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST QUALIFYING MATCH: El Generico vs, Kenny King- 5/10

HOMICIDE vs. ANDY “RIGHT LEG” RIDGE-5/10. Ridge looked good, this is a successful outing for him in the “Trial Series.”

TRUTH MARTINI PROMO- okay, but useless, since Truth cut a much better version of the same promo in the ring before the match.

THE BRISCOE BROTHERS & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. THE HOUSE OF TRUTH (Roderick Strong, Michael Elgin, & Zack Gowen) (w/Truth Martini)- 7.75/10. This match did a great job of showing off what Michael Elgin could do and making him look strong.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST FINALS: 6 Man Elimination Match- 7/10. Pretty disappointing for a Survival of the Fittest finals. The announcers kept putting over how you have to be able to go for thirty or forty minutes to win a match like this… but this one ended in less than 25. The injury makes it understandable… but that doesn’t mean it isn’t disappointing.

This was pretty bad… but that’s why it comes with this handy bonus disc: THE BEST OF NIGEL MCGUINNESS-:

NIGEL MCGUINNESS vs. TAKESHI MORISHIMA (ROH Undeniable)- 7.5/10 (only 7.25 on the wrestling, making it extremely disappointing for an ROH World Title change, but I am bumping it up to 7.5 because of the crowd reaction. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a “moment.”

NIGEL MCGUINNESS vs. AUSTIN ARIES (ROH Rising Above 2007)-9.5/10 Holy sh*t!

NIGEL MCGUINNESS vs. BRYAN DANIELSON (ROH 6th Anniversary Show)-9.25/10. A masterpiece of storytelling!

NIGEL MCCGUINNESS vs. KEVIN STEEN (ROH Northern Navigation)- 8.75/10. Half an hour of awesome.

NIGEL MCCGUINNESS vs. EL GENERICO (ROH Age of Insanity)-9/10. I was so sucked into this match that during a few of Generico’s roll-ups, I marked out hard and completely forgot that Generico had never even been ROH Champion.

NIGEL MCGUINNESS vs. RODERICK STRONG (ROH Driven 2008)- 8.5/10

NIGEL MCGUINNESS vs. NAOMICHI MARUFUJI (ROH Final Battle 2008)- 8/10

Basically, buy this DVD for the bonus disc, which is totally worth the price of the DVD.
