Seru's WWE Live Experience

Post by Serujuunin » Aug 24th, '11, 00:47

Wow. Just wow. There are few words to describe how awesome WWE wrestling is live. Even if the angles suck and the booking is terrible, it never fails to be entertaining.

Last night I was at RAW in Edmonton (our seats were awesome), and the first two matches were for Superstars (Sheamus vs Heath Slater and Daniel Bryan vs. Drew McIntyre). Both of these matches were too good to have been on Superstars. Slater got owned (which made my Sheamus-obsessed best friend VERY happy), and Drew and Bryan put on a fabulous match. I honestly don't remember who won, but I remember that it was awesome and that's all that matters. It doesn't matter who wins or loses as long as it's good, and this match in particular reminded me of that.

RAW itself was definitely entertaining. Very Punk-heavy, which made the fans happy. I was sad that Morrison lost to Del Rio (I was hoping a win for him would put him back in the Title picture, but to no avail), but that was soon out of my mind, thanks to The Miz and R-Truth. I know you guys would have seen what happened on TV, but there's no way you'll be able to know how LOUD those "WHAT?!" chants were. I was in hysterics when The Miz went "What, what, what, you sound like a bunch of ducks!" That whole segment had me in stitches.

The main event too was AWESOME. When they announced that my first thought was "Dude, we get a PPV quality match LIVE? That's never happened to me before!" And it didn't disappoint. The match itself, anyway. I was in hysterics again when Cena tossed his shirt to the same guy TWICE and had it thrown back to him! When I saw the show later I was laughing again because Del Rio was laughing at it too. When Cena threw it to another guy (In a CM Punk shirt), he shouted "Through it back!" The guy gave it to a John Cena fan a few seats away. I totally called Nash costing Punk that match though. *Also thought you guys would appreciate this, but when Laurinitis got in the ring to pull Del Rio off Cena, I started a chant in my section. "Knock him out, knock him out!"* After Del Rio left, Punk and Cena had a bit of fun with the scarf he left behind (Punk decided to wear it and pose, and he totally looked weeeeeeird), and they played with Ricardo when he was trying to get it back. Ricardo then took both finishers. However, both Punk and Cena came out smelling like roses to the live fans, and after the match (I'm not sure if it was on or off the air), Cena raised Punk's hand because of how loudly we were cheering for him. Cena then left and Punk was in the ring for a bit getting us to cheer, and he pointed at a girl with a suggestive sign reading "I JUST MIZZED IN MY PANTS." She flashed him. Really.

There was also a guy that was dressed up kind of weirdly, with facepaint that looked like a Halloween costume. Punk asked for the guy's hat, and then put it on (It looked really odd), then elbow dropped it and tossed it back. Too funny.

After that he walked around the ring shaking hands and taking pictures, and when he got to that girl he took a picture with her and she tried to get him to kiss her on the cheek (on camera in front of the whole arena), and he said no. :P On his way back up the ramp he grabbed a sign and held it to the camera saying "I'm a marketing genius", because the sign read "We want a CM Punk ice cream bar."

Before he left he got down on his knees and kissed the stage. I have so much more respect for the man after what he showed the fans and the business.

On top of that, the guy sitting next to me was dressed as Shawn Michaels, and the guy three or four seats down from him was dressed as Bret Hart.

But that wasn't even the best part. After the show we were walking across the street to our hotel, and next to the equipment trucks there was an ambulance leaving, so we looked across the street to see what's happening and lo and behold, Sheamus is in street clothes walking to his car. We bolted across the street in time to see Vickie, Natalya and JTG walk to their cars, and to see Sheamus drive out with Daniel Bryan in the backseat, Jack Swagger leaving with R-Truth, William Regal leaving with Titus O'Neal, and Natalya drive out with the one of the Bellas. I shouted at Natalya and JTG who both waved at me, and when Vickie was leaving a "Vickie" chant started and she waved at us all.

And that's just RAW.

Smackdown was good too, though the crowd wasn't as hot and the matches weren't as good. Tyson Kidd and Trent Baretta, as well as AJ Lee vs some chick called Maxine were the NXT matches (that's right, BRM, I saw AJ LIVE. :P )

Then the Superstars match. JUSTIN GABRIEL. Highlight of my night, I had no idea he was going to be there. *gush* I love him. And the 450 Splash just looks AMAZING live.

The last noteworthy thing really was the dark main event. Hunter came out and said "To be totally honest, I love it here in Calgary." And then he made a World Title match, Randy and Christian, in a "Calgary Street Fight". Yeah right. But it was still fun. Christian said he didn't need to compete, and Triple H grabbed him and threw him in the ring (But not after Christian insulted our hockey team).

Interestingly, there was a guy dressed as Mean Gene, a guy dressed as Captain America and a guy dressed as Batman.

And they redid the finish for Mark Henry and Sheamus.

And they redid the finish for Sin Cara vs. Heath Slater. TWICE.

Also, you'll probably see my sign on Smackdown when it airs. I'll point it out.

about how you said youd like to John Morrison back in the title picture,,all bias aside I just honestly dont think hed fit in with the others at all,he would come out of every Del Rio/Cena /Punk segment looking horrible because his promo skills are just no where near the caliber of theirs,it wouldnt work out well for him at all,in ring hed be fine but then other than that i dont think he fare too well
When they come, they'll come at what you love.

While i agree with you about Morrison's promo skills being less then Del Rio/Cena/Punk like, i think his in ring stuff would be enough to get him in there for a bit. His match against Del Rio was pretty good.

true, like I said his in ring stuff would be just fine,if they could work around it and work out a way he wouldnt have to talk much it wouldnt be fine,hm maybe a strong serious type, all in ring ,a bit like benoit but a bit different

His promo skills are just fine... When he's a heel. I think a turn for him right now could be he thing he needs to jumpstart him and put him on the fast track to success.

yea,as a heel the entire gimmick just shines through so much better, but Idk who to turn him on,hm maybe go after Cena,Mr WWE himself,or he could just kick the crap out of Santino,,maybe appear to help him with miz and truth then just turn on him, would work well, since the crowd loves that goofball lol

I kinda like the idea with The Miz and Truth, but I dunno how well it'll go over seeing as he has history with both of them. Unless perhaps he goes something like "Neither of you like me, and I don't like neither of you but... you're right. There is a conspiracy in the works keeping guys like us out of the Title picture." That could work.

It could IF he hadn't been feuding with them and been in matches against both this year or even within the last 2 months. Morrison comes off as a great heel and they could have him attack someone like, well i would say Mysterio but he's out so i'd say Punk. Punk is way over Morrisons level at this current time but it'd get ppl behind him as a heel because it'd be something like, the only reason Punk got title shots and what not is because he threatened to say things or just said whatever he wants while guys like Morrison watched from the back. They should do that once Punks program with Nash/Trips and whoever else is done. I can see great matches between the two and smarks would be behind Punk along with the crowd a bit because he's more like Austin.

Punk could feud with ANYONE right now and the crowd would be behind him. I like this idea too, but the reality is, they're not going to do it, because of his behavior of late. Rotting on the midcard will be just the punishment they'll give him for being a dbag.

I wouldn't expect that angle to start until January because stuff started in December usually gets hurt because thats when people are most away from their TVs because its the holidays. The fact that they gave him a match with Del Rio where he showcased part of what he can do in the ring could be a good sign for Morrison. On the other hand, they probably just used Morrison to make Del Rio look even better in the ring.

I would say it is the latter. John didn't get a chance to do his signature moves or show us some new ones. He took a lot of punishment in the course of the match which leads me to believe they were just using it to make Del Rio look good. Which is sad because those two men could put on a PPV quality match if they were allowed.

Morrison did get his fair share of near falls. I knew he wouldn't win, probably everyone else knew as well but it was a pretty great match. Who knows, maybe he put on a great show because he knew Seru was in attendance. :p

He did get near falls, yeah, but I think that too was an attempt to make Del Rio look strong. If he knew I was there he would have looked at me and winked again. ;) And I would have gotten to see Starship Pain and a 3 count for John.

Morrison didn't look weak though. They could have made it a 5 minute match or a squash BUT they chose to give it time and make both look great in the process.

I'm not saying he looked weak. But the finish didn't really leave him smelling like roses either. I get that they need to get over the Armbreaker as a legitimately devastating finishing submission, but I don't like that John tapped to it. That's just my biased opinion though. I would have been happier with a pinfall victory in this case.
