BRM Reviews the 8/4/2012 ROH

THE BRISCOE BROTHERS vs. THE GUARDIANS OF TRUTH (w/Truth Martini)- 4.25/10
Whoever the Guardians of Truth are, they need to do a lot better. If you can't put on a good match in eight minutes with the Briscoes, you're pretty much hopeless. I also didn't like the booking here. If you want people to take the Guardians of Truth seriously, you need to let them win. There was no reason to sacrifice the Guardians of Truth to the Michael Elgin storyline, because that storyline doesn't need it. It isn't the type of thing that needs to be featured on every single show. In fact, if you feature it too often, we start to wonder why Elgin hasn't left already.

KEVIN STEEN PROMO- okay

EDDIE KINGSTON PROMO- GREAT!

INSIDE ROH SEGMENT- decent build to Boiling Point 2012

LANCE STORM vs. MIKE BENNETT (w/Maria Kanellis & "Brutal" Bob Evans)- 6.25/10
A good match, but a lot of it felt very disjointed. First they were working on each other's backs, then they went to Bennett working on Lance's arm... then they forgot all about that and did something else entirely for the finish, with what seemed like serious damage to Lance's arm becoming irrelevant. I also didn't like Lance going for Bennett's finishers. Lance said his whole issue with Bennett was the lack of respect... so why would Lance go and do something disrespectful like using Bennett's finishers? Not good enough for a main event, and quite disappointing if this actually turns out to be Lance's last match. Hopefully Bennett's use of the chair means we might get another match from Lance at some point down the line, though.

THE AFTERMATH- decent build to Boiling Point 2012, but really necessary. This feud was ht enough and had gotten enough TV time already.

Overall, a decent show from ROH, which definitely built towards a PPV that needed build, but I'm not sure that the build was focused on the things that could have used it the most.

I thought the tag match was okay; I'm convinced that the Guardians are the Headbangers.

And again, don't see what was so great about Kingston's promo. I don't understand how the ROH title is suddenly the most important thing to him, when he said a few months ago that the CHIKARA title was the most important thing to him. It just came off as another one of those promos like Cena does every week where he tells us a bunch of ish we already know and we're spose to be moved by it in some way. LAME.

We have known that they are the Headbangers since they first debuted. ROH just hasn't confirmed or acknowledged it (basically it's not part of kayfabe). The whole thing is extremely disappointing, too, since both Raymond and Able are back from their injuries now.

As for Kingston's promo: I can sort of see what you're saying. I don't think he said that the ROH World Title was the most important thing to him. He said it was important because it would be his first world title and that would allowing to tell everyone who doubted him that they were wrong. That he made it big and became a successful wrestler.

Everything I have seen has reported that it was and always has been Mosh & Thrasher.

This was the first time I actually got to see them; the Stage Dive is a dead give away. And the way Chaz/Mosh moves around
