ROH Glory By Honor X (11/19/2011)- Chicago, IL
FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett vs. Adam Cole vs. Grizzly Redwood vs. Michael Elgin (w/Truth Martini)- 6.75/10
A great, action-packed opener. Bennett, Cole, and Elgin all looked good, and Grizz played his role well.
TOMMASO CIAMPA (w/The Embassy) vs. JIMMY JACOBS (w/Steve Corino)- no rating, good segment. Kevin Steen had bought a ticket to tonight’s show and was sitting at ringside. He was heckling Jacobs and Corino and a brawl started, leading to a no-contest. Steen is forced out of the arena, with an angry Jim Cornette and Jimmy Jacobs following after him and shouting. The Embassy then get on the mic and demand another opponent for Ciampa, leading to…
TOMMASSO CIAMPA (w/The Embassy) vs. HARLEM BRAVADO- squash
EDDIE EDWARDS vs. KYLE O’REILLY- 7.5/10
Lots of great wrestling here, but I think that Kyle tapped to the Dragon Sleeper a bit too quickly Fighting it for a second or two would have made Kyle look stronger and wouldn’t have hurt Eddie at all.
THE BRISCOE BROTHERS vs. THE YOUNG BUCKS- 7.5/10
PROVING GROUND MATCH: ROH TV Champion Jay Lethal vs. Roderick Strong (w/Truth Martini)- 6.25/10
They go to the time limit, then Cornette comes out and goads Roddy into five more minutes. Roddy accepts, then loses. I really don’t get the booking here at all. You have Roddy earn a title shot, then, less than five minutes later, you show that the champ can beat him clean? Shouldn’t you save showing that the champ can beat him clean… I don’t know… THE ACTUAL TITLE MATCH?
ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team(c) vs. The All-Night Express- 6.75/10
Disappointing, considering all of the momentum that ANX had behind them. I don’t think Charlie and Shelton have flopped as badly as most other people feel they have, but I do agree that they are really starting to flop in ROH.
HAAS & BENJAMIN PROMO- standard babyface stuff congratulating ANX on a good try.
ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Davey Richards(c) vs. El Generico- 8.75/10
The last ten minutes of this match are just amazing.
AFTMERMATH- Steen comes back into the arena, jumps the barricade and attacks both guys but Steve Corino comes out to fight Steen off, and Steen is removed from the building by security.
Overall, a great show from ROH. The tag title match was a little disappointing but the rest of card was between good and great and the main event was awesome. A very underrated show, in my opinion. Definitely one to pick up.
