CHIKARA CHIKARASaurus Rex, King of Sequel: Night 1 (7/30/2011)- Reading, PA
JIGSAW PROMO- good
12 LARGE SUMMIT MATCH: Fire Ant (0-1) vs. Jigsaw- 7/10 Great opener
GREGORY IRON vs. JAKOB HAMMERMEIER- 2/10
They have a non-exciting match until we get a ref bump that allows Jakob to start cheating. UltraMantis Black then leaves the commentary booth to attack Jakob, which allows Iron to get the win (so the guy you are billing as a physically handicapped hero needs help to get a win over a rookie jobber).
ULTRAMANTIS BLACK PROMO- very good. He says he will keep attacking BDK guys until Ares shows up to face him.
EDDIE KINGSTON vs. ADAM COLE- 5.5/10
3.OLE vs. F.I.S.T.- 7.5/10
Standard CHIKARA trios greatness.
3.0 & GENERICO BACKSTAGE- fun… and for the first time, it really felt like Generico deserved the punch in the stomach.
SLIGHTLY MODIFIED WORLD OF SPORT RULES MATCH: Johnny Saint vs. Johnny Kidd- 6/10
Not the type of thing I want to see every show, but it is a lot of fun once in a while.
DAIZEE HAZE, SARA DEL REY, & MAKATO vs. PORTIA PEREZ, MIMA SHIMODA, & TSUKASA FUJIMOTO- 7/10
GREEN ANT vs. TURSAS- 6.75/10
Umm… Green Ant isn’t wearing the same outfit which he cut his backstage promo in. In fact, GREEN Ant isn’t wearing any green at all (the Luger take-off angle was fun, though). This was helped along by a very hot crowd. You really felt like Green Ant got cheated here, though having Tursas keep letting him up after pins during the heat kind of contradicted the message they wanted to send, IMO.
12 LARGE SUMMIT MATCH: Mike Quackenbush (1-1) vs. Claudio Castagnoli (1-0)- 8/10
The standard Quack vs. Claudio awesomeness
Overall, an awesome show from CHIKARA. With just one or two exceptions, everything on this show is great or better, capped off by an awesome main event.
