BRM Reviews the 8/28/2014 NXT

ASCENSION SQUASH- DUD! On Principle.
Me, sitting here at my computer, joined in with the "LET'S GO JOBBERS!" chant.
ASCENSION PROMO- very good
AND THE NEW GM IS... WILLIAM REGAL!
HUGE pop for Regal! As it should be. Unfortunately, though, this means we won't get to hear him on commentary.
He has a big announcement about who will be the #1 contender for Takeover II. He asks Adrian Neville to come out first. Neville is wearing and suit and tie, and has his hair tied back He looks weird like this. Like he isn't himself. He wants to know who his next challenger will be, but made the mistake of phrasing the question simply as "who's next?" Goldberg chants ensued.
Tyson Kidd assumed that Regal had picked him, so he came out and gave an acceptance speech. A very angry Tyler Breeze came out and complained. Tyler said that "everyone deserves a title shot ahead of him! Including his wife." Sami Zayn came out and said that he wanted the title shot. Neville said he wanted to face all of them. Regal said okay.
A NEW CHICK INTERVIEWS REGAL-
They never told us her name. Her dialogue was clearly scripted word for word. Regal then announced that tonight's main event would be Zayn & Neville vs. Kidd & Breeze.
SASHA BANKS vs. BAYLEY- 2/10
The standard "SASHA'S RATCHED!" chants tonight had a faint but audible response of "no she's not!" F*cking smarks. Drive me nuts. BOOO THE HEEL, DAMMIT! (Hopefully Bayley won't annoy me to the point where I have to rant on her and cause me to be a hypocrite).
The match was short but enjoyable. Sasha had great aggression.
RENEE YOUNG INTERVIEWS BAYLEY ABOUT WHAT IT WOULD MEAN TO HER TO WIN THE NXT WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP- GREAT promo by Bayley. Then Charlotte came out and totally awesome. At one point in the middle of this, she turned to the fans and shouted "you shut when I'm talking!" and I swear I heard her father's voice right along with her. GREAT heel stuff from Charlotte, including saying that she would kick a kitten out of a tree. An AWESOME segment!
BULL DEMPSEY vs. ANGELO DAWKINS- no rating. Good ROH-style squash (where the loser gets a bit more offense in so he doesn't look like a total jobber).
Dawkins looked like the biggest dork ever. He looked good in the ring, though.
LEGIONNAIRES PROMO- Great. Then Marcus Louis accepted Enzo's challenge to a Hair vs. Hair match on Lefort's behalf. Lefort was not happy with this.
SAMI ZAYN & ADRIAN NEVILLE vs. TYSON KIDD & TYLER BREEZE- 7/10
Good match, and a good finish. I loved the fact that it was actually Sami's move that put Neville down, which subtly puts Sami over as someone who can beat Neville. I wasn't happy with his post-match Helluva Kick to Tyson, but the announcers did a good job by pointing out that this was extremely unusual behavior from Sami, which put over the situation as an important one.
A very good episode of NXT.
