BRM Reviews the 6/10/2015 NXT (boring except for the last few minutes)

ZACK RYDER & MOJO RAWLEY vs. SAMPSON & ROLLIS- 2.5/10
Mojo kept doing some sort of spastic movements that I think were intended to resemble dancing.

FINN BALOR VIDEO PACKAGE- F*CKING AWESOME!

DANA BROOKE VIDEO PACKAGE- mostly good. She just needs to work on her delivery because she just doesn’t quite sound like a star yet. Also, I didn’t like those clips of her beating up Alexa Bliss.

EMMA vs. BLUE PANTS- 4/10
It’s been like nine months. How has no one in WWE noticed that she is cosplaying as Kitty Pryde on their air? They gave her a lot more offense than usual here.

CARMELLA, ENZO, & COLIN PROMO- Carmella was eh, Colin was dull, and Enzo rocked!

TYLER BREEZE vs. BULL DEMPSEY- 3/10 (but funny in a mean sort of way)
Oh come on! How did we not get any Tyler Breeze promos hyping this up by burying Bull for being the ultimate uggo? Also, we learned that Bull Dempsey is slow and fat.

BECKY LYNCH VIDEO PACKAGE- good hype for…

BECKY LYNCH vs. JESSIE MCKAY- 3.75/10
Well… there’s someone else using their indy name in NXT.

REGAL & DEMPSEY- Dempsey eats snack food because he’s fat, and this displeases Regal.

A NAMELESS GUY INTERVIEWS JASON JORDAN- It’s not Chad Gable. They are making Gable look like a huge dork. HE WAS IN THE FREAKIN’ OLYMPICS!

BARON CORBIN vs. ANGELO DAWKINS- 0.5/10
We have dueling chants of “All hail Corbin!” and “Corbin sucks!”
SAMOA JOE vs. SCOTT DAWSON- squash
Owens was on commentary. He and Joe had a good post-match exchange on the mic. Regal announced that they would have a non-title match next week.

This was yet another week with almost nothing going on, and this one had even less than the first two weeks. To be honest, it was pretty boring. They did a great job of making Joe seem like a star, but the only thing you really need to see is the post-match segment of the main event (and maybe the Balor video).

last week i blamed the absence of Owens on why NXT was boring, but no excuse to this one, and i know it's not Itami or Zayn because they don't really excite me either. NXT has been really going down since Takerover

My theory is that they don't know when the next Takeover show is yet because they are hesitant to do one without Itami and Zayn (and also, in theory Owens... and they don't have Neville anymore) so they are just going REALLY slowly to build first Owens vs. Joe for a big match, then Owens vs. Balor for the Japan show, and then they'll start getting some direction back after that, when they'll hopefully have a better idea of when Zayn and Itami will be back.
Either way it stinks, but I think it means we'll be seeing more Rhyno and more of the Blake, Murphy, & Bliss vs. Colin, Enzo, & Carmella feud, so at least more Rhyno, more Bliss, and more Colin & Enzo promos are things to look forward to. Plus they REALLY need time to build someone new up for Sasha because she's beaten all of the women who are anywhere near her level. Bayley is probably the best choice, but they have to resolve her issues with Emma first.

i feel we're back at that point of NXT we saw when Rollins, The Wyatts, Big E, Bo, and Paige/Emma debuted to the main roster, and we were left with a bunch of home grown talent that is not fully ready but is the best they have. It's not a bad thing necessarily since guys like Jason Jordan (who i see a lot of potential in) can have some time on TV, but i think NXT has accustomed the fans to a certain level of quality, and when they go back to working as a developmental league, it definitely shows.

I agree about Jordan, but the issue at the moment isn't that it feels like developmental. It feels like a bunch of squashes. They have already established characters like Dempsey, Vaudevillains, Corbin, Breeze, Lefort, Louis all running around... they're just not doing anything with them but random squashes. Shouldn't Mojo be trying to get revenge on Tyler Breeze for injuring him?
