BRM Reviews the 8/19/2015 NXT

WOMEN’S TITLE CONTRACT SIGNING- great segment.
Anyone else having audio-synch problems (and for an even more amazing coincidence, I just finished listening to part one of Austin’s podcast with Vampiro, which got me curious as to the whole Milli Vanilli scandal). I paused it and it was all okay again so maybe it was just in my head.
Bayley’s content was decent but her delivery brought it down. Sasha took a page out of Kevin Owen’s book and taunted the fans by reminding them that Takeover is in Brooklyn and not Full Sail. Sasha was very good, as always.
So the contract signing goes off without a hitch… and then Bayley says “hey! How come we’re not fighting like everyone else does?” That was dumb, but it resulted in us getting a F*CKING AWESOME promo from Sasha.
Bayley jumped Sasha from behind and they had a short brawl.

TYLER BREEZE vs. A JOBBER WITH TERRIBLE HAIR- no rating, good segment.
The jobber also has Spiderman tights that say “Ryzin” on the back, so he might be El Hijo Del Terra Ryzing.

HYPE BROS, COLIN CASSADY & ENZO AMORE vs. FOUR JOBBERS- DUD for being an entirely pointless squash. You don’t need to do an EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM SQUASH TO SET UP FOR UNDERCARD TAG TEAM MATCH WITH NO HEAT ON NEXT WEEK’S TV SHOW… ESPECIALLY NOT WHEN THERE IS A TAKEOVER SHOW THIS WEEKEND!

PROMO BY DAWSON, WILDER, JORDAN, & GABLE- fun

SAMOA JOE vs. A JOBBER- DUD!
Another f*cking pointless squash.
Look… I get that they did this to set up Corbin jumping Joe afterwards, but couldn’t they have just had Joe cut a promo and have Corbin jump him during the promo?

WESLEY BLAKE & BUDDY MURPHY (w/Alexa Bliss) vs. ANGELO DAWKINS & SAWYER FULTON-
We’ve almost hit the point where not even the sight of Alexa Bliss can abate my rage at all of these f*cking squashes. Almost.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- bad.
Vaudevillans show up. They tell Alexa not to slap them but she does anyway. We’ve seen this for weeks already. If they weren’t going to show us what their plan to deal with Alexa was, there was no reason to have them out here.

They’re advertising CARMELLA VS. EVA MARIE for next week. I shudder to think of how terrible this could be. That women’s four way good be pretty good, though.

KEVIN OWENS PROMO- PROMO OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE!

THE LIGHTS GO OUT AND FINN SHOWS UP- they have an awkward staredown and a fight.

Hopefully this will be the last of the squash-filled NXTs and we can look at the period between these two Takeover shows as a dark time to be written off as an anomaly.

They said "next Wednesday" very clearly. Hunter also clarified this today on the conference call.

I guess they're just gonna copy LU, have Takeover be long and show the matches in two different shows. Kinda makes next week's show kinda irrelevant if it's just a bunch of filler matches

There not doing that at all. They are just taping the Takeover show, then taping an episode of TV. The matches aren't filler if the wins and losses matter.

except they don't. the only match that could have something matter is Eva vs Carmella. It's not a tv taping, it's a bunch of matches. The TV tapings already happened last week, this is gonna be like those arnold special shows but without title matches

Why can't the women's match matter. Suppose Dana gets a big pin over Charlotte? Or one of the other women get a win to start them down the road to a title shot. Same with the eight-man.

they can, but they likely won't, they're just filler for the live audience and easy tv for wwe
