I would say Earl Hebner but (1) I'm already enough of a joke anyway and (2) I can think of 3 incidents that should have cost him his job (3) that are all from WWF/E alone. Rule of three, not Earl.

My pick goes to Senior Official Bryce Remsburg.

I really want to say Remsburg or Zabato, but I just can't. Their awesomeness over the past year has definitely been special circumstances. That sort of thing would never work anywhere else.

The late Randy 'Pee Wee' Anderson. Always was on his A game, and def bought the enthusiasm that a ref should have.

ECW had THE two best: Jim Molineaux & John Finnegan.

Earl Hebner, he's one of the few referees that have actually had a character, he's competed in a match, he's been involved in storylines & he's the most recognisable referee there ever was.

Let's not forget to mention the man who calls it right down the middle: Bill Alfonso....

I have to ask, what's so awesome about Earl Hebner? And how the hell is he cooler than Bryce Remsburg?

What has Earl done that makes him a better referee than any other? In kayfabe, that is. Lately, he always looks drunk as a skunk while in there. He just kinda stumbles around and is always late on the cover.

I just thought of Rick Knox from PWG. He's like the perfect referee.

Earl is the absolute worst of all time:

1) you see him touch the prone wrestler's shoulder right before they kick out of a three count every time.
2) He ignores blatant illegal activity RIGHT in front of him (look at the Sting v. Flair match from September).
3) As YCW said, he does seem to be drunk as hell and staggering around nowadays.
4) He's NOTORIOUS for making BAD/unpopular decisions (When Hogan lost the title, Montreal screwjob, his quick count that gave Y2J the title for like 3mins, Slammiversary 2006, Orlando screwjob etc)
