Awesome Kong was sent home yesterday from the TNA tapings in the U.K. after a backstage incident involving Reby Hardy, the wife of Matt Hardy.

TNA confirmed the incident with a statement by John Gaburick, stating, "Prior to the Impact Wrestling TV tapings at the Manchester Arena, Kia Stevens (Awesome Kong) was involved in an incident involving Rebecca Hardy (Reby Sky). Subsequently, Kia was removed from the tour and returned to the United States. The matter is being reviewed to determine if additional disciplinary action will be taken."

According to sources in TNA, an argument had started between the two over some things that happened several years ago. PW Insider reported that as being a 2013 Kayfabe Commentaries DVD during a segment labeled "The Ho Bag," where Kong knocked Hardy, which was taken from Sky making comments on Twitter about Sid Vicious missing an independent date. Hardy later had words about Kong in a Q&A when asked about Kong's statements on the DVD, saying they even texted back and forth and if she still has a problem, she labeled it as being fake to her face and talking behind her back.

Kong then got mad at Hardy for dressing in the womens' dressing room. Kong wanted her to apologize. She left, and that Kong went after her and was restrained.

Kong has had a number of incidents including an attack of Bubba the Love Sponge when Bubba said "F*** Haiti" on a radio broadcast, and a social media video where Kong compared working in TNA to slavery. She was eventually one of the first major signings of Paul Levesque in WWE, but got pregnant very quickly after debuting on television. She had publicly talked about giving birth, although later admitted it was a hoax and she had lost the child. After being let go by WWE, which was not aware of the hoax at the time, she returned to TNA.

Here's some info from PWInsider:
PWInsider wrote:Former TNA Knockouts champion Awesome Kong was sent home from the current UK tour on the first day following a locker room incident with Reby Sky, PWInsider.com has learned.

According to multiple sources, Kong took issue with Sky attempting to dress in the women's locker room and threw Sky's bag out of the room. Sky had not dressed in the women's locker room at the Bethlehem, PA tapings as we are are told she dressed separately at those tapings. The UK tour was the first time Sky dressed in the women's locker room.

The back story here appears to come from, of all things, social media and shoot interviews. In 2013, Kong made reference to Sky on a www.KayfabeCommentaries.com "Youshoot" DVD where she knocked Sky during a segment called "The Ho Bag." Kong's statements were apparently a receipt for Sky, earlier that year, going on Twitter in reference to Sid Vicious no showing an independent date, which Sky spoke out about.

Sky would shoot then back online in a public Q&A forum when asked about Kong knocking her, writing, "Not aware of this, if it is true. Doesn’t make much sense, as I don’t know her on a really personal level & we have been nothing but nice to each other in passing at shows. We’ve actually texted back & forth a few times, so if she now has a problem with me, I can only attribute it to one thing/person. Fake as f**k to be nice to my face & talk s**t to a camera if its true, but no shocker there. That’s 99% of the women in this business anyway. Next."

So, while the entire back and forth happened years ago and was likely forgotten by everyone except the principals, it appears to have been the root cause of what sent Kong off and might explain what she was demanding an apology for.

We are told Sky left the room (likely to speak to someone in TNA management) and when she returned to retrieve her things, Kong went after her for "not apologizing."

There are two versions making the rounds as to what happened next. One is that Kong tried to go after Sky but was stopped. The second version, which we've heard from FAR more people, is that Kong throttled Sky around the neck and assaulted her, before security and TNA Producer Pat Kenney restrained Kong.

What makes the entire situation worse is that Reby and Matt Hardy's son was right in the vicinity of the incident we are told.

The incident led to Kong being sent home by TNA. What this means for her long-term status with the company is probably undecided as of this writing.

Kong departed TNA in 2010 after assaulting shock DJ Bubba the Love Sponge (at the time, working as a backstage interviewer for the company through his connection to Hulk Hogan) after Bubba made derogatory remarks about Haiti following a major Earthquake there. She went to WWE for a short run as Kharma and returned to TNA in early 2015.

PWInsider has reached out to TNA for comment.

Thanks to Erick Sturrock for his help with researching background information.

That whole thing needs to stop. Fuck "the vets,"respect", and all that "old school" mentality. "You ain't earned the right to dress back here" It's 2016 and that's another tired bunch of shit that needs to go. Locker rooms are intended for one purpose only and should be used for one purpose only.

It's a dressing room. I don't give a fuck. Case in point and in closing: let's say that the rumor of their son being nearby IS true. That's a child's innocence you're taking somewhat taking from him when he sees you treating his mother that way and where I'm from a child's safety and happiness are to be watched out for above all in situations like this. Meaning, she'd be extremely lucky for someone to not have basically gone off on her for acting that way (if true) , in front of a child.

For the record no I'm not scared of her so no I wouldn't feel different in person. She's slightly tall for a woman but we're the same height, and she's slightly big. Never has been too muscular in any way shape of form.

She's always seemed like to me-there's Chyna(past years obviously.) Then Kong. There's old school Kane and Undertaker, and then whatever random, slightly larger male wrestler you wanna throw in.

King is actually a few steps below old-school Kane/Taker. They both have a good foot on her in height, and a about 25-50 pounds.

there are many things that I still agree from the old school mentality, paying dues should be a thing. But for the most part I agree that this whole veteran respect tends to be bullshit, treat people with the respect they give you i say.

True-she is like 285. I've just never really seen it from like that..yes and no. Beth Phoenix it even seemed was in another league from her as well.
