The Dark and The Mysterious
February 3rd, 2016
We start the show with a recap of Mundo, Cage, and Dragon Azteca's season 1 story. February 3rd, 2016
We are back to the Boyle Heights Gym and Prince Puma is lifting inhumanly amounts of weight. Pentagon Jr comes to him and they say that they're gonna be teaming to fight the Disciples of Death tonight, but since they also don't like each other, they start fighting. Puma has the final hand.
Johnny Mundo vs Killshot - 6.5/10
Johnny is back and as cocky as ever. Good match that got better and better as it went on, Killshot got to show off some stuff, which would makes me think that he may get more single's spotlight this season. Mundo cheated to win.
Post-match: Mundo calls out Muertes, which brings out "They call him..." CAGE!!! Cage dissed Mundo off telling him that last time they fought, Cage kicked his ass, they got in a little fight after Mundo attacked him from behind. Cage then told Muertes that he's coming for him. I'm loving how everyone is hunting Muertes, and he just looks on pissed off, kuddos for Lucha Underground that with one show and a half have already established 6 strong guys that could take the title any time from Muertes + the dysfunctional trios that have a beef with him. I think Cage is a babyface now.
Sexy Star/Marty The Moth Segment - Great! Sexy Star has been kidnapped for 6 months, sucks that no one cares for her to look for her. Anyway, Marty The Moth seems like a man that has a good upper class life in the suburbs. He shows Sexy a butterfly and kills it, i'm guessing he's been doing this every other day. He says that his sister thinks they're all ready to go back to The Temple.
Darewolf PJ Black Vignette - Awesome, good vignetter to introduce PJ Black, we get that he is a Daredevil and potentially a werewolf. Black kicks two biker luchadors' ass in a parking lot, and if I ever buy a bike, i'm riding with a mask underneath my helmet.
'Darewolf' PJ Black vs The Mack - 7/10
Great match to not only introduce PJ Black to The Temple, but it brings back Mack in a strong way, since the last time we saw him, he got his ass kicked by 'They Call Him...' Cage. Really surprised with the winner, but I'm happy with it.
Kobra Moon Vignette - We get a vignette of a masked girl kicking ass left and right, her name is Kobra Moon (AWESOME NAME! sounds really Robert Rodriguez). I'm excited for more girls in LU, masked girls, and I don't even think this is CLM, so i'm curious to know who she is.
Prince Puma and Pentagon Jr vs The Disciples of Death w/Catrina - 7/10
Puma and the Disciples have all improved their entrance attire, and I found interesting that Pentagon Jr was the one that took the final entrant position. During the introduction of Pentagon and Puma, I loved how Muertes is breathing heavily on his throne, love when you can tell how pissed off he is even when he's just sitting there. The match itself was really chaotic, they tried to have normal tags on the face side, but it felt more like a lucha libre tag rules, add to that the whole story of the match was that Puma and Pentagon can't get along and are trying to one up each other and piss each other off; however, everything executed in the match looked nicely, the Disciples looked like a strong team and not just henchmen.
During this match, Ian kept telling Striker to not ask him about Pentagon Jr, which leads me to believe he IS actually trying to stay healthy, but makes me wonder why Pentagon is still making offerings for him. I think i need a little backstory on what Pentagon did all these last months.
Post-match - Puma and Pentagon get in each other's face and start fighting. Pentagon outfights Puma and is about to break his arm, but Puma powers himself out of it. I honestly thought that he would break Puma and just keep Puma and Muertes out of action until mid-season.
After-credit segment: We get a voice telling a hooded figure about the story of Dragon Azteca's mask and how he was supposed to inherit it, but thinks that the hooded figure should take the mask, maybe HE is the one of the legend. Either way, he likes the mask he has taken anyway, and that mask is none other than Rey Mysterio!
OVERALL THOUGHTS:
If episode 1 was 100mph, this show is down to 60mph. We're still bringing people back and following up, but you could tell we're taking things easier and slower this time. The wrestling was better in my opinion than last week, but the stakes were not that high tonight. No Dario Cueto, so i'm sad.
