Deadline.com is reporting that former WWE star Dean Ambrose has booked a movie role in the film Cagefighter, which tells the tale "of a lauded MMA champion who unexpectedly loses a heavily promoted match to a professional wrestling star making his crossover debut in the MMA fighting world. Humiliated by the defeat, he must fight his way back to the top and earn his place for a rematch."

The film is currently in pre-production with Josh Herdman who plays the lead character who loses, Michael Jai White, who plays his trainer and Gina Gershon, described as the "biggest" MMA promoter in the world, heading the cast. Details on Ambrose's character are not yet known, but it would make sense that he play the former pro wrestling star.

MMA stars Anderson Silva, Georges St Pierre, Dan Hardy, Tyron Woodly and Alexander Gustafsson will also be featured in the film to add authenticity to the MMA scene.

Former WWE World Champion Jay Reso aka Christian is Executive Producer of the film.

TIL Christian was World Heavyweight Champion. I do not remember that happening at all. ECW yeah, but I honestly checked Wikipedia because I thought that was a typo... He held it twice apparently! I'll be damned!

He was one of the first people who's booking infuriated the internet fans when he lost the title in less than a week

Vaguely remember this...
Was that right after Edge retired? I'm feeling like he got a consolation title win to capitalize on Edge's situation...
