Trish Stratus will be coming out of retirement in her home city of Toronto, Canada, to face Charlotte Flair at WWE's SummerSlam this August.

Ryan Satin reported Tuesday night that Stratus was in talks to be on the show and John Pollock reported Wednesday that the match was on. WWE sources confirmed the match, which had been rumored as a possibility ever since the interview took place.

The match was first hinted about on last night's SmackDown when Flair said she was the queen of all eras and that she would face someone far better than Ember Moon with the win establishing her as the greatest of all-time.

The 43-year-old wrestled for WWE regularly from 2000 to 2006, winning the title seven times, and has made occasional appearances since she left. She wrestled at last year's Evolution show, teaming with Lita in a win over Alexa Bliss and Mickie James.

SummerSlam will featuring Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins, WWE Champion Kofi Kington vs. Randy Orton, Raw women's champion Becky Lynch vs. Natalya, SmackDown women's champion Bayley vs. Ember Moon, and more.

Big news, but I feel like this is the wrong match. Charlotte doesn't have much to gain here, as opposed to Bayley or Ember or someone else.

It's a "dream match". If they had more than two weeks, sure build a program and make a star, but with short notice I think this is the way to go.

This wasn't short notice tho, I don't think she's subbing for anyone, they've probably planned this since last year's Evolution PPV

You know, as much as the lack of a story build to this bugs me, this should still be pretty good. At the Evolution PPV, Trish felt like she barely skipped a beat (she was far better than Lita IMO), so I’m looking forward to it.

Which is fine and all, but you should at least lay some ground work or drop hints or whatever (like what they're supposedly doing on NXT with Cole mentioning that "not even Triple H will be able to stop us).

I really don't see what Charlotte gains from this win. This is the thing that they should be doing to make Ember Moon or Nikki Cross or somehow use it to turn Bliss babyface (or even make Nikki AND turn Bliss babyface at the same time via post-match attack and save, building to a six-woman tag Evolution 2 or something like that). This is a career-making victory for someone, and they're wasting it on someone who is already made!

But they NEVER do that...

I could see being irritated if this was unusual behavior, but how is this any different than Batista coming back to wrestle Triple H, or Sting coming back to wrestle Triple H, or Undertaker coming back to wrestle Triple H?... come to think of it, I think we should just count our blessings that Trish isn't coming back to wrestle Triple H...

With Batista, he specifically wanted to wrestle Hunter to return the favor for making his career. It was Hunter vs. Batista or no Batista at all.

You're not wrong about the others, but they just dont feel like wasted opportunities like this does. The difference is that unlike Taker or Sting at those points, Trish can still go. This will be a Trish Stratus putting someone over while still coming off like Trish Stratus, not a 70 year old Mil Mascaras finally deciding to take the big payday to do a job for someone.
