Thelone Reviews MLW War Chamber

Post by Thelone » Sep 17th, '19, 15:26

Aand we move on to something new finally after a pretty uninspired build-up.

We start with a video package about this whole Contra vs. Lawlor and pals feud.

Leo Brien vs. Brandon Banks – Squash
Brien was in a tag team called the Dirty Blondes with Mike Patrick and managed by Colonel Robert Parker (yes, him), but I guess MLW will be pushing him as a solo act from now on. Banks was just some scrawny dude not even worthy to have a CageMatch profile.

Post-match, here's Salina and Park with him beating up Banks and the referee (and holding Banks for SDR to slap him a couple of times), then used the ref as a foot stool because why not. SDR hyped him up, then announced that he will cash in his golden ticket at Superfight in november, which will be their first PPV.

Another video about Dynasty vs. Hart Foundation, then we're with Teddy in Calgary in an ice rink. He said a few things about learning discipline here and vowed to destroy Dynasty. We then have the announcement of a 2/3 falls match for next week between Dynasty and the Foundation for the tag titles.

A rather long segment with Kevin Von Erich and his sons where the Sportatorium was.

War Chamber - ***
To the shock of absolutely no one, Contra won the coin toss and it was the classic "babyfaces have the advantage when they're even, but the heels dominate when they have the numbers game". Samael bladed when Ki slammed the door on him, but this was the only noteworthy thing until the finish almost. Anyway, a masked guy (who I'm pretty sure was Brien) came out of nowhere and started climbing the cage before Ki and Kevin stopped him, then he did the Iron Claw for a big pop. Soon after, Samael hit Lawlor in the hand with his spike, then Kwon misted him, then Fatu did his moonsault and covered him, but Ki saved him with a double stomp. The Von Erichs did their finisher on Gotch for the win. Match was way too long (easily could have cut ten minutes), the whole "can we trust Low Ki?" thing didn't mean anything and again, this match didn't feel particularly heated or violent.

The babyfaces had a long celebration to end the show.

Eh, I'm glad we're done with this storyline and moving on to something else for the next big event.
