Most ignorant ass shit I could possibly think of. It would be like if you looked at Kane in 2003, when his gimmick was running a little stale, and releasing him instead of pivoting and giving them a huge push.

A few months ago Keller hinted that Braun complains when he has to do a job and speculated that him kicking out at 3.1 on a loss to Lashley might have been unauthorized, so it could be an attitude thing.

This has to be it. All of this stuff I'm seeing about budget makes no sense, because if that were the case they'd just cut his pay.

Not while under contract. I understand most WWE contracts give WWE the right to release you, but they can't change the terms of the contract until it's done, so they wouldn't be able to cut his pay. Best they can do is not use him, but it would still be quite expensive and maybe he still has a long time left.
By all means, this could be a way to break the contract and then offer to bring him back for less money.
