AEW Rampage ratings drop over prior week

Both the average viewership and key demo rating. for AEW Rampage dropped this week compared to prior week.

Last week’s show on July 8 drew an average of 428,000 viewers. That is down from last week’s average of 486,000. In the demos, the rating decreased over week for adults 18-49 and men 18-34. The rating stayed flat for men 18-49.

Eddie Kingston vs. Konosuke Takeshita was the key match on this week’s show and kicked the night off. Later, Mercedes Martinez and Serena Deeb teamed up in women’s tag team action. Also, the Gates of Agony wrestled ROH World Champion, Jonathan Gresham, and Lee Moriarty. Gresham turned heel on Moriarty during this segment and sided with Tully Blanchard. On AEW Rampage this week, Moriarty and Gresham will face each other in a singles match.

In the main event, Orange Cassidy defeated Tony Nese. Last week, AEW Rampage featured a major battle royal main event to crown a new number one contender for Jon Moxley. Brody King won that match, but lost to Moxley on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Because Rampage is terrible. It’s like they’ve given up trying to make the show a success. It’s worse than dynamite, then dark is worse than Rampage and then Dark Elevation is just an irrelevance.

Tiny gave up on Rampage pretty quickly. Punk stopped appearing after that one time they """beat""" an FS1 episode of Smackdown (the infamous "friday night ballpit scrap war") for five seconds in the "47-59 truckers named John" demo (the reality was about as insignificant and silly) and the few times there is a big name on the show is when they're being "rotated out" like Moxley and Bryan recently.

It's kinda weird how Dynamite is obviously the flagship show, Dark (the fucking D show) is this weird place where you might find some random young talent that'll end up in PorNXT in the next six months because Tiny has no eye for talent, Elevation has less young prospects and more boring indy vets/going nowhere undercarders (sometimes even a lost midcarder to beef up his/her totally legit and important record) having short nothing TV matches on Youtube, and Rampage is just an upgraded version of Elevation, but it's still boring matches with almost no point between lower and midcard guys/girls with the lost uppercarder here and there.

I wouldn't say "terrible" so much as just unimportant. It's rarely a bad show, but it's certainly rare that it really feels like it was worth the time I invested in watching it, given what else I could have been doing (still months behind on NXT UK and wXw).
