TNA Destination X 2011 (7/10/2011)- Orlando, FL

KAZARIAN vs. SAMOA JOE- 6.25/10.
Not the match I would have chosen to open this show, but I am very glad that they didn’t make Ultimate X the opener

Good pre-match promo by Doug Williams. It explained everything about this new guy. I am still disappointed that we didn’t get Petey Williams or Sonjay Dutt back, though.
DOUG WILLIAMS vs. MARK HASKINS- 5/10.
Haskins was impressive, and his slip was unfortunate. JB, however, did a great job of using the slip to put Haskins over on commentary. He has been extremely impressive so far.

AUSTIN ARIES PROMO- F*CKING AMAZING!

GENERATION ME vs. ERIC YOUNG & SHARK BOY- 3.5/10
Just a few of Young Bucks spots, and that was all this match really was. Also, the booking was MORONIC! The established team loses to the semi-makeshift team of one perennial jobber and one comedy wrestler! WTF?!

ZEMA ION PROMO- good

ULTIMATE X MATCH FOR #1 CONTENDERSHIP TO THE TNA X-DIVISION TITLE: Alex Shelley vs. Shannon Moore vs. Amazing Red vs. Robbie E (w/Cookie)- 5.75/10.
X-tremely lame and disappointing, as far as Ultimate X matches go!

LOW KI PROMO- great

ROB VAN DAM vs. JERRY LYNN- 7.5/10
Told a great story, and JB did a great job helping them tell it. They also did a great job of using the chair in ways in which the wrestlers have enough plausible deniability as to not require a DQ.

JACK EVANS PROMO- good

MATCH FOR A TNA CONTRACT: Austin Aries vs. Zema Ion vs. Low Ki vs. Jack Evans- 8/10!

ABYSS PROMO- stupid

TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Abyss(c) vs. Brian Kendrick- 7/10
... but five star story-telling here. Absolutely BRILLIANT overbooking! The first X-Division charge on Immortal was an AMAZING TEASE, and needing about 10 guys to take out Immortal made the Immortal big-men (Gunner, Steiner, Bubba) still look strong.

AJ STYLES vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS- 8.25/10
The perfect way to cap off this PPV.

JB wasn’t great, but he did provide some good insights. He also definitely has a sportscasters’ voice (think Vince or JR) , which works in his favor. Tenay wasn’t good… but he did manage to avoid saying anything stupid, which is a monumental task for him.

Overall, this show was very good, bordering on great, and was easily the best TNA PPV in a long time.

I was going to write review for this ppv, but I would have said pretty much the EXACT same things as BRM.

The Contract match was prolly the best match TNA has had since Hogan & Bischof came in. The crowd was SUPER into it and I totally agree with them that ALL those guys should be signed. AMAZING match; best of the night.

AJ v. Daniels and RVD v. Lynn were also exceptional.

Joe v. Kaz was a good opener, but these two guys could have easily done much more. Still a fairly decent match/SOLID opener for the PPV.

TOTALLY agree about the title match; GREAT story-telling in there. I loved that the X-Div came out to make the save for Kendrick. I almost marked out when Bischof came down; I was just about to cuss like crazy til Immortal showed up, then I knew SOMEONE would come to Kendrick's aid.

I'm glad GenME got a match on the show, but you're right; they shouldn't have jobbed to EY & Shark Boy (though I REALLY got hype when I saw all of TNA's masked guys backstage. Well, at least for Curry Man and Shark Boy).

The only thing I disagree about is the Doug Williams match; I don't think Haskins should have been given the shot on PPV. I was very un-impressed by the guy and thought he looked like a cross between Kendrick and Rhett Titus but not even CLOSE to as good as either guy. I don't think we'll be seeing him back. Sonjay or (esp) Petey would have been a better choice (but Petey had a match elsewhere this wknd, right?)

Another thing I disliked about the show was that we had to deal with Bully Ray and BPP, but we got NO Velvet or Tessmacher. LAME! At least hit me with some ODB!

All in all; def a good show. only one match sucked and that's a HUGE upgrade for TNA PPV's....

this kid is supposed to be a good deal, he's been with Dragon Gate and NOAH (that i know of). They call him "The Star Attraction". Dude had a match against Misawa once

he kinda reminds me of Punk

I see it a little; I see more Edge, Rhett, and Kendrick though (kendrick prolly just bc of his size; or my flawed perception of his size)

I disagree about the Abyss promo here BRM. Not having seen TNA in a few months and then coming back to see Abyss as an intellectual monster made me regret not watching Impact to see this character evolve. My only gripe was at one point he consulted the book mid match, which leads me to believe either TNA hasn't read "Art of War" or Sun Tzu saw the future and figured he needed to write a passage in there on how Abyss beat Kendrick. But all joking aside, I'm personally enjoying Abyss' new character.

Don't worry. You didn't miss anything. Because THERE WAS NO DEVELOPMENT! At all! He just put down Janice and started reading the book one day, and that was it.

yeah; I don't think we've seen Janice since Crimson buried "her" in Abyss' back....

Janice was a horrible device because deep down you wanted to see it used, but knew it would be horrible and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

It doesn't go anywhere because you can't use it and what is the point of showing something if it can't be used.

Because it's TNA.

It kind of fits in with TNA's mentality of only showing stuff that shouldn't be used.
