The Ring!!!

I didn't exactly know where to classify this topic, so excuse me if I'm in the wrong section of the board. I guess I have a bit of a rant on the wrestling ring....or maybe not. Has the ring gotten smaller in size through the years or is it just me? I caught a little bit of one of the Mexican promotions recently and the ring looked like it was huge. Growing up my father took me to a few shows, most of them were Indy promotions from Quebec and the ring once again looked big. Now that could be because I was a little kid or it could be because the ring was actually bigger.
I grew up and went to WWE and ECW events and immediately noticed the small ring size and was a little disappointed. A couple years ago, I went to a TNA event with the six sided ring and was very disappointed. It appeared that I was watching a sumo match rather than pro wrestling. Maybe I would of been a bigger fan of the hex-ring if it actually had some size to it.
Now I understand completely from a business sense why the ring would shrink (if it did) over the years. The number of top dollar seats would increase and that would definitely be appealing to the box office. However, there was something magical when entering an arena and seeing the spotlight and the big stage. After all a Broadway Show in a small auditorium is less grand.
I'm unsure of the exact ring sizes and how it may or may not have changed since the mid-1970's but it certainly appears to me that has happened and if it did happen, I'm not so sure I like it.
