BRM Reviews WWF SummerSlam 2000

WWF Summer Slam 2000 (8/27/2000)- Raleigh, NC

RIGHT TO CENSOR vs. TOO COOL & RIKISHI (w/The Godfather’s Hoes)- 4.5/10

X-PAC vs. ROAD DOGG- 4/10

INTERGENDER TAG TEAM MATCH FOR THE WWFF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE: Tirsh Stratus & Val Venis(c) vs. Eddie Guerrero & Chyna- 5/10
Told its story well but didn’t get much time (which was fine because it really didn’t need it). I wasn’t happy with Val’s lack of selling of the low blow, though (neither was JR, as he pretty much called him on it).

TAZZ vs. JERRY LAWLER- 3/10.
Good stuff from Taz, and a good finish, but I absolutely HATED Taz no-selling the piledriver. You can’t no-sell a piledriver.

WWF HARDCORE TITLE MATCH: Shane McMahon(c) vs. Steve Blackman- 6.25/10
Great storytelling. Really makes you hate Shane for being such a chickensh*t jackass.

TABLES, LADDER, & CHAIRS MATCH FOR THE WWF WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Edge & Christian(c) vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudley Boyz- A PERFECT 10/10!
Wow. This was just amazing. All action, sick bumps, and AMAZING selling combined with a hometown crowd that was just ridiculously into the Hardys all come together to create a PERFECT match.

TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS MATCH: Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho- 6.25/10
It kind of felt like they forgot the whole shoulder thing at one point.

THONG STINKFACE MATCH: The Kat (w/Al Snow) vs. Terri (w/Perry Saturn)- 3.5/10
But actually pretty good for what it was

KANE vs. THE UNDERTAKER- DUD!
The match never started and it was a decent brawl until the “finish” which was both disappointing and, from a storyline point of view, out of nowhere (kind of like Kane’s whole heel turn).

KURT ANGLE PROMO- good

NO DISQUALIFICATIONS, NO COUNT OUTS MATCH FOR THE WWF TITLE: The Rock(c) vs. Triple H vs. Kurt Angle- 8.5/10.
An awesome, storyline-driven match. The spot where The Rock went after Steph would have worked a lot better if Steph had broken up the pin right before it, rather than Triple H kicking out on his own. Great stuff from everyone involved, especially Triple H, Kurt, and Steph.

Overall, this show was very up and down. What was good was awesome, buit everything else really didn't feel PPV quality.
Hold #712: ARM BAR!
