Did You Know... the ROH-CZW War

... all came about because Gabe wanted his champion, Bryan Danielson, to get a win back over Chris Hero from the first week of Dragon's title reign at the 2005 TPI? The whole war came from that one idea... which happened in the first (official) show of the war.

That's stupid. I'm sorry but that's really silly that Gabe's ego over his world champ was that powerful. Another example of ROH taking themselves too seriously.

Not at all. If your champ loses (especially cleanly) the guy who beat him deserves to be the champ. It made sense for Hero to challenge Dragon for the belt at some point.
And I think that it is really cool in trying to find a way to do something simple, Gabe (with, I assume, so help from Mike Burns) came up with this ultra-awesome idea for a feud.

It's not that f*cking important. To me, I see Gabe going "holy f*ck my world champion lost! I gotta get him to win to look strong again!" It makes sense but damn is it egotistical.

I just reread the blog of Gabe's where he talks about world titles (mostly about the FIP one), and the original insistence that the ROH Champ not do jobs often was actually Joe's, and it was done because a bunch of indy promotions would book Joe and have him put over their top guy, then they would go out and say "our guy beat the ROH Champ!"

That's what happens when you're an indy guy. Again, it's his ego.

Makes perfect sense to me. If the champ keeps getting beat, then why is he the champ?

Because that's the nature of the business. Taking himself and ROH too seriously. I mean, start a huge HUGE storyline that caused Zandig to sh*t his pants and throw someone down a flight of stairs over your champ being pinned at another company's show? Come on man.
I mean it does make sense and I get it, but if I were Gabe I would just let it go and act like it never happened, instead of letting his poor bruised ego get the better of him and taking the damn company too seriously.

Zandig throwing Burns down a flight of stairs was a major overreaction, and that only happened because Burns was an idiot and didn't tell Zandig that he was doing an inter-promotional angle with ROH.
Acting like it never happened is the sort of thing that people always poop on WWE for. The indies don't work that way. How many feuds have started in one indy or another and carried over to many others (Raven vs. Punk, Lacey vs. Haze, Hero vs. Kingston, Steen vs. Genericio).
If it were me, I would be willing to have the champ lose semi-often, so long as I got a guarantee that there would be a rematch (preferably on my show) with the belt on the line which my champ would win, but I can totally understand Gabe and Joe's mentality and can't fault them for it.
