ROH Best in the World 2015 (6/19/2015)- New York, NY

MARK BRISCOE (w/ODB) vs. DONOVAN DIJAK (w/Truth Martini)- 6/10
A good opener with a SICK bump by Mark Briscoe, but IMO the wrong guy went over. Not only should the gigantic Dijak not be losing yet, but why not have Truth be the deciding factor in this match to set up for a similar spot in the main event for a false finish?

MATT SYDAL & ACH vs. THE DECADE (w/Colby Corino)- 6.25/10
Well… that was shorter than expected.

SILAS YOUNG vs. DALTON CASTLE (w/the boys)- 6.5/10
Didn’t like the finish, though. If Silas deserves to be DQed, JUST DQ HIM. The angry Silas (is there any other kind?) beat up one of Castle’s boys after the match.

WAR MACHINE vs. CAPRICE COLEMAN & CEDRIC ALEXANDER- no rating, perfect segment.
Cedric grabs a wrench and wants to cheat but Caprice sees it and refuses to tag him in. This leads to Caprice eating War Machine’s finisher and losing. After the match, Cedric teased hitting Caprice with the wrench but didn’t, finally just telling him â€"we’re done.”

#1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH: Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong vs. Moose (w/Veda Scott & Stokely Hathaway)- 7.25/10
I thought Moose looked rather dumb wearing just footballs and a helmet. Also, which moron failed to do the terribly obvious thing and tell the cheerleaders do the MOOSE cheer along with the crowd?
I really wish they hadn’t had Kevin Kelly announce the date (Death Before Dishonor XIII, when Elgin will be in Japan for the G1) of this title shot before the end of the match.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Moose shakes hands, despite Veda Scott’s instructions not to, so Veda gets pissed and slaps Moose. Moose is about to do something do her, but Cedric Alexander showed up with a wrench to make the heel save, shouting â€"I’m the only one to beat him! This should have been my match!”

THE BULLET CLUB vs. THE KINGDOM (w/Maria Kanellis)- 9/10
INSANITY! And what a performance from Adam Cole, basically carrying his whole team. Between Cole fighting 3-on-1 at the end and Bennett’s reaction to Maria getting Superkicked, it almost makes you wonder if they’re trying to turn the Kingdom babyface.

NO DQ’S MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: The Addiction(c) vs. reDRagon- 8/10
F*ckin’ Sabin! They did a great job having the Addiction still feel like dirty cheaters despite the No DQ’s rules and that made for an awesome babyfaces vs. heels match. There were quite a few sick bumps or weapon shots in here as well.

TITLE VS. TITLE MATCH: Jay Briscoe(ROH World Title) vs. Jay Lethal(ROH TV Title) (w/the House of Truth)- 8.25/10
Yeah… I’m still going to go with Nigel vs. Dragon at Unified as the biggest match in ROH history.
The pace of this match was very slow, and not in a good way. In a â€"slow punching and kicking” kind of way with very little technical wrestling. I also HATED the table spot because 1) if Lethal was the one who hit the low blow, why is Briscoe the first guy to hit a move after it? And 2) why are we having the babyface cheat by going for a move through a table?
That all being said, they did manage to pull it up into being awesome at the end… but this is a spot that demanded epic, and when epic is needed, awesome isn’t good enough.
Well… at least Jay Briscoe’s title reign is finally over and we now have someone who can perform at the extremely high level and ROH World Champion needs to perform at.

Overall, this was a good show from ROH, but it really loses something as the two most promoted matches- the #1 contendership match and especially the â€"biggest match in ROH history title vs. title match” were both disappointing considering the expectations going in.
