FIP Unstoppable (5/28/2005)- Brooksville, FL

JERRELLE CLARK vs. JARED STEEL- 4.25/10
Short. After the match, the New Dawn beat Clark up, with Joe choking him out and Cabana smacking him with a shoe.
NEW DAWN SEGMENT- Punk cut an AWESOME promo on the populace of Brooksville, FL:
â€"I’ve figured out why no one ever gets convicted of murder in this down: Everyone has the same DNA and there’s no dental records.” And as if that wasn’t brilliant enough, Punk followed up by telling them to â€"think about it. I’m sure you’ll get it by, like, Tuesday.” FANTASTIC!
Then Punk yelled at Cabana for not being able to take the title from Homicide last night. Cabana said that he just came to FIP to wrestle, not to get involved in Punk’s stable. He noted that as someone who played high school football, he doesn’t really fit in with Punk’s stable of â€"freaks and geeks” and â€"outcasts of society” so he left the group. Punk had Joe choke Cabana out.

COLT CABANA PROMO- he promised the New Dawn that it wasn’t over between them.

HEARTBREAK EXPRESS PROMO- same crap they always say. â€"This town sucks. The women are ugly. We’re the best tag team ever.” These guys are such an obnoxious one-trick pony.

DON JUAN PROMO- basically the opposite of the Heartbreak Express promo. â€"This town is nice. The women are hot. The Heartbreak express is ugly.”

THE HEARTBREAK EXPRESS vs. DON JUAN & CHRIS MARVEL- 3/10
Yes, this is the same Chris Marvel of â€"horribly breaking his leg at the second ever ROH show” fame. The match was pretty boring.

STEVE MADISON vs. AARON EPIC- 2.5/10 (but very action-packed for the time it got)

FOUR WAY FRAY: Vordell Walker vs. Rainman vs. Evan Starsmore vs. Masked Fipper #2- 5/10

CM PUNK (w/Samoa Joe) vs. SAL RINAURO (w/Spanky)- 6.25/10
Punk wins via small package after throwing powder in Sal’s eyes. Spanky was VERY unhappy with the referee, even holding up the packet Punk stored the powder in as evidence.

JAY FURY vs. â€"FAST” EDDIE VEGAS (w/Dave Prazak)- 6.75/10
A great showcase for Fury’s athleticism, but DP Associates come away with the heat.

RODERICK STRONG vs. TONY MAMALUKE- 6.5/10
Unfortunately short, but really made me want to see a rematch. Roddy worked the back, Mamaluk worked the arm.

FIP HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Homicide(c) vs. Azrieal (w/Mr. Milo Beasley)- 7/10
Surprisingly good, considering Azrieal’s reputation as a spot-monkey.

POST-MATCH SEGMENT- Joe and Punk attacked Homicide, but Sal, Spanky, & Cabana made the save, leading to…

THE NEW DAWN (CM Punk & Samoa Joe) vs. COLT CABANA & SAL RINAURO (w/Spanky)- 1/10
There was a lot of out-of-place comedy to start off this grudge match. Punk also wrestled a not-insignificant amount of time with his bare ass exposed… and this was during the serious part of the match. Punk appeared to not be giving any sh*ts about it (which was good because his pants were down).
There were some good moments here, but then they went back to comedy culminating in an atrocious finish in which Spanky blew Punk’s own powder into his eyes… and then gave him the schoolyard â€"bench” thing and Sal pinned Punk off of THAT. They could have had a great main event match, but instead they chose to build their grudge match around comedy. I went from seeing Cabana as a top babyface to not giving a single sh*t about him over the course of one match. This show really seemed to have some promise coming into this main event, but this solidified this as just another bad FIP show.
