EP 8: Unique Opportunity

So now that LU season 1 is officially over, my life is meaningless, so in order to stay alive, i'm going to start re-watching LU from the beginning, evaluating subtle hints, things that were never payed off, build up that I missed. etc. I don't have to say, but I'll be spoiling a lot of future shows in case you haven't seen them. I won't rate matches with numbers, but I'll try to find a word that describes my feeling for the match.

Dario Cueto opens the show, wearing sick shades. He announces that the winners of tonight's both 10-way matches will have a fight and win a 'unique opportunity'

10-way match
Pentagon Jr vs Fenix vs King Cuerno vs Drago vs Prince Puma vs Mariachi Loco vs Mascarita Sagrada vs Big Ryk vs Super Fly vs Son Of Havoc - AWESOME!
The first thing we got was Mascarita taking on Ryk. There is just so much stuff going on in this match that it's hard to recap all of it, but pretty much everyone, including Mariachi Loco and Mascarita. Really surprising that Fenix would defeat Prince Puma.

Boyle Heights Battle Royal (Over the top rope Rules)
Sexy Star vs Johnny Mundo vs Bael vs Cortez Castro vs Famous B vs Cisco vs Ricky Mandell vs Mil Muertes vs Pimpinela Escarlata vs Chavo Guerrero - Awesome, with lower case and no exclamation symbol.
It was really interesting having Mil Muertes here, he just felt on another level here, mainly because I don't think Mil will interact with most of these wrestlers for the rest of the season. Most of what Mundo, Muertes, and Chavo did was great, but there were way to many jobbers here, and with the over the top rope rule, everyone was obviously grounded inside the ring. Muertes won with what Striker called 'Lariato'

Dario's big announcement: Muertes and Fenix are in the ring, Dario comes out and presents the LU Championship. He also announces that he has created 'Aztec Warfare', announces that Aztec Warfare will take place on the next show and it's for the title. Announces that Fenix vs Muertes is now happening and the winner gets yet another unique opportunity to enter Aztec Warfare last, loser enters 1st.

Catrina looks like she had a rough night and didn't get a chance to recover. She looks hangover hot.

For Aztec Warfare's #20 spot
Mil Muertes w/Catrina vs Fenix - GREAT!
At this point you really can't tell everything that will go on with these guys, but to think that the Fenix vs Mil Muertes feud started here due to unique opportunities. Towards the end of the match, Muertes started dominating and won strongly, but Fenix did get a lot of offense

Cueto is back with Matanza, Darios says the title is made from the gold of the 7 Aztec tribes and that the Gods will look fondly of this. He doesn't want to share it with Matanza because doesn't take care of the things he is given. Matanza needs to learn to be more careful and responsible.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
This show felt huge, for the first time it didn't feel like a bunch of people that don't like each other and a place where fights happened, this show gave direction to a wrestling promotion. I felt the show started with a really high note and a not so high one with the second match, but with Cueto's announcements and the last match, the show ended and I wanted more. Good show.
