A Much Darker Place

Show starts off with Ian in the Psychotic Break Division, The Youssef Floro Clinic. He's been here for 6 months, with 181 days without an incident, so kuddos for continuity and making it seem like this world exists in real time. He is being told that if he takes his pills and avoids those who have brought the violence out of him, he should be good. We see that deep inside, the violence is there, but he's hiding it. He goes free and Striker is there to pick him up, what a great friend Strike is. Awesome car too.

Striker says that they've been called back to **Dramatic Pause** The Temple.

We cut to Cueto...I mean Catrina's new office. Fenix is there with his title saying that he's here for Mil Muertes and the LU title. Catrina says that he will wait for next week, IF he still has the title, unfortunately for him, tonight he must go against his hunter, King Cuerno!

Mil Muertes has become Shao Khan in the The Temple, sitting down in his throne, waiting for a new challenger.

Gift of the Gods Title Match
Fenix (C) vs King Cuerno - 7.5/10

Well, that was a crazy way to start the show. With so many stipulations this title has, I had completely ignored that Fenix could have lost the title even before challenging Muertes. It was weird, but they were wearing almost the same tights sans the color. Match was great, not more to ask of it other than more time.

The Dysfunctional Trio arrive at The Temple. Catrina greets them and tells them that Mil has plans for them, they'll face in a triple threat match and the winner can face Mil for the title. Ivelisse tells Catrina that she's coming for her.

We get a quick spot with Catrina telling Melissa something in the ear. Fans call for a kiss.

3-way No 1 Contendership Match for the LU Championship.
Son of Havoc vs Ivelisse vs Angelico - 5/10

There was something amazing here. The fans had no idea about the segment we had just seen, so when they realize that the 3-way include these three wrestlers, they went crazy! The match had good story that these guys don't necessarily want to kill each other, but they all want a title shot. They also don't realize that this also means facing Muertes, and unfortunately for Ivelisse, she was the lucky winner. It was great because her face goes from joy to 'oh fuck, what have I done'.

We get a segment of three fight fans looking for an underground fight club, Lotus comes up to them and tells them to follow her.

King Cuerno/Catrina segment - good, cowboy King Cuerno hints that Catrina and him have a pact to not cash in the GotG Title.

Mil Muertes makes his way down. This made Muertes feel out of this world. Before the match, Angelico and Son Of Havoc got taken out (literally) by the Disciples of Death.

Lucha Underground Title Match
Mil Muertes (C) w/Catrina vs Ivelisse - 6/10

As a match, it wasn't that much, but I don't want to call it a squash because there was one single spot that I totally believed there could be a title change. Muertes dominated Ivelisse all match except for two or three hope spots.

After the match, Catrina is going for the Kiss of Death, but instead tells Muertes to further kill her. Muertes is going for a second flatliner, when suddenly Prince Puma makes the save, fucking prince valiant looked amazing, he's carrying Ivelisse while having a stare down with Muertes and telling him to bring it. That's a fucking babyface hero!

Suddenly. Pentagon Jr comes out from the back and breaks Muertes' arm!!! FAACKK!!!! Vampiro is having a reaction, but I couldn't read it correctly. My penis can only be so erect!!

After the titles, we get Lotus presenting those three geeks to Cueto, who is running a fake Temple. He charges $20 per dinner, but he fails to tell them they are the main course, for his brother, Matanza!

Lucha Underground Death Count: 3

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

I honestly can't ask for more, we got to revisit most of the fan favorite guys, two title matches, that even though were not Puma/Morrison level, they told a great story. There is much we could start to speculate, Pentagon seems to be a big player this time, maybe with his following, he'll become more of a Stone Cold anti-hero. Puma is definitely back as the champion of men. And will Muertes be out of commission?

You can tell, from Striker, to Vampiro, to the dysfunctional Trios, to Melissa Santos, that everyone is happy to be back. There is something special in the air, the crowd was hyped all show, it felt like a PWG show. We're all believers.
