Three's A Crowd

DARIO CUETO MEETS WITH CAGE, JOHNNY MUNDO, & TAYA- he wants to them to team together in the Trios Tournament because he’s Dario and he likes to stir the pot. Also, as the nameplate on his desk indicates, he’s â€"kind of a big deal.”
Cage: I’ve got a better idea. How about you give me a match with Mundo tonight!
Dario: No. I like my idea better.
Dario is so awesome!
He tries to hit on Taya, but she isn’t buying what he’s selling… so Dario’s face instantly turns sour.
He brings up the fact that Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, & Angelico won last year’s tournament even though they hated each other, so maybe these three can do the same, untied by their mutual desire for gold. Cage says he wants into the tournament with or without the other two. He spouts off his stupid catchphrase and Dario is clearly just as sick of it as everyone else. Johnny and Taya agree to team with Cage.
A good segment singlehandedly elevated to being great by the greatness of Dario Cueto!

Vampiro introduced Matt Striker as, among other things his â€"partner in crime.” Someone PLEASE make a movie starring these two as themselves, but also as bank robbers. There is no way that won’t be hilarious.

KILLSHOT vs. ARGENIS- 5/10
Killshot is now wearing a military camo jacket and dog tags. Adding this stuff in only after doing the backstory video package makes it seem like this was a plan that was added in very late.
Killshot has a cool finisher.

DRAGON AZTECA JR. TALKS TO BLACK LOTUS OUTSIDE OF DARIO’S OFFICE- she claims to be secretly working against Dario. She says this right outside of his office. She’s probably lying, as she also lies about Dragon Azteca, but still, the fact that they are right outside Dario’s office where he could easily overhear them should be a tip-off. Then again, I completely believe that Dragon Azteca Jr. is naïve enough to not think of that.

DARIO CUETO MEET WITH… SOLDADA? (that’s I thought he said his name was)- A fine way to start the build to crowning a new Gift of the Gods Championship. New Guy will face El Texano Jr. for one of the medallions.

WINNER GETS AN AZTEC MEDALLION: El Texano Jr. vs. Daga- 6.75/10
Fun match, and a good introduction to Daga.

CATRINA & MIL MUERTES IN MIL’S SANCTUM- the Disciples of Death are in the trios tournament and have a match next week. They beg Mil’s forgiveness, and Catrina promises that they won’t fail again. Also, it seems like we’re getting Mil Muertes vs. Matanza for the title next week. This was a very… low key way to get such important information out there to the viewer.

TRIOS TOURNAMENT FIRST-ROUND MATCH: Prince Puma, Dragon Azteca Jr., & Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Cage, Johnny Mundo, & Taya- 8/10
Awesome match! They did a great job of mixing in the cool Lucha action you’d expect from our three babyfaces with the story of the dislike and dysfunction between Cage and Mundo/Taya.

DARIO GIVES MATANZA A PEP TALK- good hype for next week’s main event, and an explanation for why Matanza is back in the cage.

A GREAT show from Lucha Underground!

STUPID ANNOUNCER QUOTES:
1. Matt Striker felt the need to explain to us that the reason you see a guy in a headlock shoot his opponent off the ropes is because he is trying to escape the headlock. Thanks Matt. We wouldn’t have figured that one out without. Now if only someone would explain to me why the wrestlers keep trying to lie down on their opponent when the opponent is on his back.
